If you think parents / the environment you grew up in don't affect your choices, you're wrong. Your 'legitimate points' aren't too legitimate. The Westboro Baptist Church people think people who don't believe in the same beliefs as them are as big of idiots as you think they are. I call people's beliefs garbage when they're garbage. I call sexist and racist people's beliefs garbage, but no one seems to have a problem with that. Yes, the environment you grew up in does affect your beliefs, but it's just ignorant to assume that their the right thing to believe just because your parents taught you it. I came up with my opinions on homosexuality on my own by doing the research and learning the facts.

You can think what you want.  But you're not going to win any converts to your argument using language like that.  It's disrespectful and not likely to lead to anything productive.  Please present the supporting facts for your argument without using generalizations and demeaning terms.

While self-defense is accepted as an argument in many courts, if you use excessive force, even in your own defense, you can be prosecuted.  A better approach (if it is feasible) is to go within the legal system and notify the authorities when you have a grievance against someone.   

For instance, if someone starts insulting you here in Scratch, and you respond in kind with insults of your own, it is not acceptable.  Self-defense is not accepted as a valid argument here - we would rather have the Scratch Team deal with the offender. 

But we're getting a bit off-topic with all this legal talk.
