I had a similar problem with plane rides and rocky boats (I get airsick and seasick).
One thing I've learned is that you're less likely to hurl up if you don't eat soft foods before a ride. Things to avoid would be anything that's not very soild (ice cream, soup, milkshakes, for example).

The solution was to close my eyes.
