Video game question...

Me and my friend were discussing this. When I get a new game, I prefer to play it straight away and learn as I go, while my friend prefers to read the instruction booklet first. Which do you prefer to do?

Discuss XD

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha XD XD ... wait... what was I laughing at?

Re: Video game question...

Read the instruction booklet only if you are two hours away from a game system and can't stand waiting to play it.

Re: Video game question...

I do both.  It's usually a good idea to read the instruction booklet.  For example, you never learn in-game that the triangle button in Kingdom Hearts orders your party to attack your target.

Ugh, I spent so long searching for how to do that.

Re: Video game question...

I play it straight away, but later I might read the booklet for fun.

Re: Video game question...

If you play only Zelda and Pokemon there isn't much to read, on the other hand games like Civilization IV require at least playing some of the tutorial levels:

Re: Video game question...

I've been trained to know for sure that there's always a built-in, 5-hour, MANDATORY tutorial level.
So I just skip the instruction book altogether no exceptions.

Re: Video game question...

There's no point in an instruction booklet, you can just use the in-game controls menu.

Re: Video game question...

Most of the time I'll just jump right in, and sometimes I'll end up reading the manual when I have no clue what's happening.  tongue

Re: Video game question...

I prefer to learn it as I go along... but sometimes if theres tutorials, I'll do them, but I almost never look at the instruction book.
