Me and my friend were discussing this. When I get a new game, I prefer to play it straight away and learn as I go, while my friend prefers to read the instruction booklet first. Which do you prefer to do?

Read the instruction booklet only if you are two hours away from a game system and can't stand waiting to play it.

I do both. It's usually a good idea to read the instruction booklet. For example, you never learn in-game that the triangle button in Kingdom Hearts orders your party to attack your target.

Thats how you did it?
Ugh, I spent so long searching for how to do that.

Same. Example: Spore.

I play it straight away, but look at the booklet to see what the game will be like

I've been trained to know for sure that there's always a built-in, 5-hour, MANDATORY tutorial level.
So I just skip the instruction book altogether no exceptions.

There's no point in an instruction booklet, you can just use the in-game controls menu.

Most of the time I'll just jump right in, and sometimes I'll end up reading the manual when I have no clue what's happening.

I prefer to learn it as I go along... but sometimes if theres tutorials, I'll do them, but I almost never look at the instruction book.
