Better Graphics/Image editing system

Scratch Is a GREAT tool for programming... But what about artwork? Have you ever noticed the pixels in the graphics? (the ones made in scratch anyways) That needs improving. And there has be a better image editing/creating program. More tools, easier rendering, effects, stuff like that. I went through a whole twenty minutes on Scratch making a shadow on text with a PAINTBRUSH when I could have just made a much better quality shadow from a few clicks in photoshop. These features are definitely needed for the next Scratch update.

Yes, you are right.

Scratch is a great tool for programming. It was meant for programming.

But what about artwork? Scratch was not meant for that. Scratch was meant to be an educational tool to teach little kids programming.

You shouldn't be treating Scratch as an alternative to photoshop. Try gimp.

+1
But still, some extra features would be cool

it would be cool but scratch isn't for games with complex graphics really

What if you couldn't care less about graphics? Like me?

Scratch is not meant to be a graphics program.

Does having good graphics teach you programming? No.

you should just make the graphics in an external editor
jeesh people
next you'll be asking for multitrack music recording

(according to the topic owner, their photoshop is "broken"  tongue )
No, i don't think we'll need that. What we will need is an automatic project maker.

All you need to do is type in the rules of the game and it'll make it. That's definitely needed.

How is "gimp too hard" but photoshop easy?
I consider it the exact opposite

Re: Better Graphics/Image editing system

Scratch* could use better graphics, easier/yet more complex coding, and more memory!  for those who insist on saying graphics are not what make a program, then you have never herd " a picture is worth a thousand words"!.  Not "a scratch picture is worth 8 bits"!  Don't get me wrong, i love scrtach.  i use it to the fullest extent of my knowledge.  I do use exturnal pictures, but the memory is taken up so fast my projects have to be half the size of what i want it be.  granted this makes me think creativly to solve issues.  but i should be more worried about what to put in my game/project/picture rather than "if" i will be able to get it in, or how well it will look.

That was... a long post...
Gimp works fine enough, imo. The tools that it has are just what I need, even though I don't use it much any more  tongue

Keep the images under 360x480 and don't use an alpha channel. Then it should work fine...  smile

that's not the point. Scratch seems to deliberately make the graphics bad, which shouldn't happen.

That too. Like it tries to make the graphics worse. Totally bad.

Re: Better Graphics/Image editing system

i understand the reason  behind the lower quality of graphics has to do with file size.  but if everyone and their grandma wants better graphics, why not allow it?
