Yeah, read it last year. It was pretty good. Gives you a detailed and hopefully accurate viewpoint on how chilren would survive with a giant responsibility. They should make a movie soon!

The Beastie is God. Simon is the Enlightened one who doubts, while Piggy's temporary faith in the Beastie shows how science can bow to illogical whims. The Beastie turns out to be a dead parachutist, so Simon goes back and gets killed by the boys, who think he is the Beastie.

Finish it. I read it in the middle of the night, listen to not afraid for over 4 hours after not eating or drinking for a day. It was awesome.

Golding is overrated, I honestly don't know why the book is popular
