Costume names

Why is it that if you try to make a costume name just one number, Scratch automatically adds a '1' after it? Not really a problem, just wondering...

Re: Costume names

Scratch's system with renaming the costumes is messed up. There's only one way to fix it. Hacking.

Hopefully the Scratch Team will come to their senses in the making of Scratch 2.0 and exclude this feature.

In what other ways is it messed up? I'd like to know. And exclude what feature? As in, the problem I described?

The intention of the feature you've encountered was to automatically number costumes with names that are identical, excluding numbers at the end. This works.... sometimes. xP

Re: Costume names

I'd suppose it tries to simplify things by adding the costume number so you don't have to check back to see which costume is named what

But this can cause problems if you want to do [blocks] <switch to costume[ <{ variable }>] [/blocks] unless you use the "letter _ of" block.

Actually, the [switch to costume[ (variable) ] block uses the actual number of the costume (which is displayed to the left of the costume thumbnail).
