PEOPLE!

Minecraft automatically saves old versions anyways, you dont even need to back it up!  yikes
Hunger is in HARDCORE mode
Why do you hate on NPC villages?
Would you rather have one big update or a ton of small updates?
There will probably be a TON of mods to disable/modify certain features of the game

Re: The Minecraft Adventure Update Thread

Those poison spiders and Endermen are going to be a problem, since you can barely see in pumpkins anyway and blue spiders make your health go down constantly like you're poisoned. It'd be better if there was some kind of antidote that stops the poison or something, then it won't be much of a problem.

-Plantable pumpkins Indeed.
-Glass Panes Bleh
-Pigmen Really? I thought they were just what people thought would be in the villages (it's actually people).
-Sprinting Yeah, good for creepers since it makes mobs fly backwards if you hit them while sprinting.
-When you click a chest, it actually shows it opening Yeah, I'd heard.
-Even smoother lighting Bleh

And way more. O:

Put a pumpkin on your head to scare away endermen. Theoretically, though, you could just look at one, keep looking to keep it frozen, approach cautiously, and strike him down.

Ah, I never thought of that! Thanks, that's gonna save my life after 1.8.

Or you could just change the difficulty to peaceful.

Heh, that's what I always play on.

Swamp biomes don't look great. They're just flat areas with a mix of dirt and sand. They have lots of vines and little pools of water. http://imgur.com/9OFLd?full They also have mushrooms, long grass and reed here and there.

Re: The Minecraft Adventure Update Thread

I hate the idea of XP.

Minecraft is like life. You become more experienced as you learn, and get better technology. Picking up little boogers that animals drop won't make you successful in life.

I'm most excited about rivers and growing pumpkins. xD

Re: The Minecraft Adventure Update Thread

I'm going to get the bad things out of the way and then get to all of the awesome stuff, and the MYSTERIES OF 1.8!!!

First of all, if 1.8 is the Adventure Update, why do animals have to be cared for and can't just be killed at will? If the whole point is adventure, why make us focus on animal care? I also think hunger ruins how the game works. I think it may be optional since Notch said it will be possible to play the game without food.

The things I can't wait for:

Strongholds. These things will be awesome to find, and they will definitely be a pleasant surprise to have when digging.

Ruins. These things aren't exactly fully explained, but it will be fun to find out the secrets for ruins!

Endermen. I love the idea of these things. Although they won't be the easiest thing to defeat, they'll add a creepy element to the game.

Silverfish. Supposedly the new "Scary mob". This should be interesting.

Blue spiders. These things could add a whole new spin on things. See one, you won't just go at it and say, "Pfft, just a spider, SWINGSWORD SWINGSWORD," you'll have to think it through, since it can poison you.

New Biomes. More to explore!

Bows and critical hits. Charge-up bows enhances bow usage! Critical hits is something that will make battle much easier and much more exciting.

New farming options. Yay, no more simple Wheat, Reed, and mushroom farming!

I said mysteries earlier because of one thing. Endermen could not be the new "Scary mob" because they were created by Notch, not Jeb. Jeb was the one to create the scary mob. How scary could the silverfish be?

But that's just wimping out. It's similar to health and do you want health to be removed? I think it's going to add more fun to the game since you have to concentrate on health and hunger at the same time. But if that's too much work for you...

Those poison spiders and Endermen are going to be a problem, since you can barely see in pumpkins anyway and blue spiders make your health go down constantly like you're poisoned. It'd be better if there was some kind of antidote that stops the poison or something, then it won't be much of a problem.

Someone suggested milk would be an antidote, and Jeb considered it  big_smile

They're both the same thing  tongue

When you say strongholds, you mean ravines.

They pop out of the block you're mining and try to kill you.
