Put a pumpkin on your head to scare away endermen. Theoretically, though, you could just look at one, keep looking to keep it frozen, approach cautiously, and strike him down.Ah, I never thought of that! Thanks, that's gonna save my life after 1.8.
Or you could just change the difficulty to peaceful.
Actually, I normally do play on peaceful. However, the server I go on a lot has mobs.

I've always wanted to burn down a village! and with 1.8, i can!
After 1.8, everyone will where a pumpkin on their head. Also, isn't Notch adding ravines and river?

Offline
Rivers. :D I've always thought he should add those.

Not really. If they were spread out it would still become like this. I think 1.8 will be great.
Although the large brown mushroom looks horrible. And they're way too big. I was thinking more 2^3 size. Although it's be hard for them to look good that small. Maybe even just 1 block size. Just the size of the block instead of way bigger. But I guess big mushroom biomes could be cool.
NPC villages will be cool to raid and stuff. I mean, er, to look at and stuff. I don't get what ravines are. Can someone explain?

@Geo: Lol, not really. Rivers sound awesome. What are strongholds?
@Ipod: Yeah, and what if they have torches in? You could just take them, ruining the survival theme. Then again, that's your choice so it's not really a problem. I suppose it's stupid of me to think it ruins the game to add things like smelting log, and taking from NPC villages since I'm not going to do it. And they'll be rare so you're unlikely to come across them soon, I suppose.

You can already smelt logs. It makes charcoal.

Um, I know. I was just saying it as a similar example to the torch one.

Oh, and for everyone who dislikes the NPC villages, look at the wiki.
It says on the list of upcoming features in 1.8:
OPTIONAL NPC Villages.
Btw, here is everything known of 1.8:

"User placed leaf blocks won't decay"
I had a good game known as the leaf game going. Each player placed a leaf and the first to decay lost. Plain, but fun. Gonna miss you, leaf game.

Sorry for all the numbers and stuff- Copy pasted.
Fixes and Changes:
Shift+Click on items will work correctly.[5] Cool.
Labels for items will be added.[6] Aren't there already them? when you highlight an item.
Redstone circuits not working after /time set x glitch going to be fixed in SMP.[7] I couldn't care less, but I guess that's good.
User placed leaf blocks won't decay.[8] :C
Clouds won't go through buildings anymore.[9][10] Nice.
Rain and snow will now render faster.[11]I don't care.
Zombies may drop a new item instead of feathers.[12] O:
Features:
At least 9 new crafting recipes.[13]Cool.
Different game modes.[14]Cool.
Limited flying in Creative modeWhat does that mean?
"At least one new mob"[15]Mmhmm.
New Enderman mob.[16][17]
New features in the terrain generator; things which will only appear in new worlds/chunks[18]
Optional[19] NPC Villages[20] with farms[21] and "town borders".[22][23] Yayayayyayayay.
Possibility of players to "claim" land in villages.[24] Cool.
Wells for villages.[25] Cool.
Villages will contain an NPC smith, who will own a forge that uses lava.[26] Cool.
Underground Ravines including canyons on the surface and ledges to walk on.[27][28] Awesome!
Strongholds,[29] consisting of 4 new blocks: Stone Brick, Mossy Stone Brick, Cracked Stone Brick, and Iron Bars.[30] (names unconfirmed)
Totally new, fractal-based[31] biome code.[32]
New Mushroom biome[33] which will include Huge Mushrooms, both brown and red.[34]I don't really like the look of it.
Larger Biomes[35]I think they're big enough.
Rivers flowing through/inbetween biomes.[36]This is just so awesome.
Deeper Oceans[37] That's cool I guess.
New combat Mechanics[20] O:
Critical hits[38]
Hold-to-charge bows[39]
Player blocking attack animation and hostile mob attack animations, possibly more player animations[40][41] Nice.
New farming options, more interesting farming.[38][42][15] I'm not much of a farmer but that's cool.
This could be the Cocoa Bean tree Jeb was talking about.[20] :D
Plantable pumpkins and melons, each with a central stem that grows to max size and spawns a fruit next to it.[43] OOOOOO:
Animal breeding.[44] ZOMGDSNJNASJKND
New Food System:
Food no longer heals directly but indirectly.[45] I don't get that.
There is now a food meter.[46][45] Cool.
The food meter is possibly optional since Notch has said that it will be possible to play without food.[47]
Food will be stackable.[48][49][50] ...
Food takes 1.6 seconds to consume.[45] lolwut
There is now a food eating animation.[51][45] Nice.
There will most likely be sound effects for consuming food.[51] Crunch crunch crunch...
5 new food items.[52]
Cooked Chicken.[53] Cool
Raw Chicken.[54] Cool
Raw Beef and Steak.[50][55][56] Cool
New Melon block, but not yet confirmed as food. Ooh.
Cooked Porkchop has a different texture.[50] Amazing.
New achievements:
Kill a skeleton with an arrow at 50 meters.[57] Nice.
Possibly Shoot the Moon with an arrow.[58] Erm...
Sprinting: By double pressing the forward button, the player will move faster.[59] Nice.
Sprinting will have a drawback, such as depleting your food bar.[60] Just turn it off if it's optional then.
Hitting a mob while "rushing" (sprinting?) sends them flying.[61] I don't care.
Glass Panes.[62] Sounds terrible.
Possibly Spike blocks, Jeb initially considered Spike Pistons, but then pondered making a Spike block that can be pushed by the Sticky Piston.[63] These sound cool.
Arrows will be stuck on mobs when they hit.[64] But what if you hit them between the legs. O.O
Fence Gates.[65] Yay.
Graphics / UI / Audio:
New improved lighting — day/night cycles will not require chunk updates.[66] Lighting will be updated via a texture, whose coordinates are the block's sky light and block light levels.[67]
Warmer light from torches.[68] Warmer????
New texture for Moss Stone.[69] Pff.
Sliders for field of view and gamma in video options.[70][71][72]
Redesigned HUD, including two new features, food and experience bars.[73]
New launcher.[74][75]
Possibly a web Applet launcher.[76]
A lot of new sounds and some changes, such as minecart sounds and shear sounds, also a change in the sound of rain.[77][78] I don't really care about sound.
New bow sounds (including hits), new door sounds, big slimes sound, and walking skeletons sound more skeletony.[79]
Possibly new particle effects.[80]
The ability to see the world seed when pressing F3.[81] Ooh.
Multiplayer:
Multiplayer server list[82][83]
Improved server join screen: The server join screen will feature a list of servers[84]
Player List - Press tab in multiplayer and player list comes up.[85] Don't really care.
The ability to allow moderators to enter creative mode in SMP.[86]
Modding:
Modding Support.[38] Cool.
Including easier changing of the max level (map) height.[87]
