Because if people thought you were being 'boastful', they might want to put you down. :L

And he meant basically that 'brilliant' means a genius or with a lot of talent: you can't judge this over the internet so demosthenes felt that the ratings wold be inaccurate or whatever ,':^S

Does that matter? I'm not sending this to NASA. It doesn't need to be accurate.

While topics like this one aren't clearly flame-bait, and don't break a specific rule, they're at least flame-kindling.

So rather than say "do you think I'm brilliant [famous, etc.]," it might be better to say things like "What do you think of this [ thing that I made ]?" It's usually easier to give and get feedback when it's directed at the thing one has made, rather than who one is.

But they weren't really saying "Yes/No you are/aren't brilliant." They were simply giving a vote out of ten. You can't really say something offensive (at least not to me) with a number.
