Funny, in saltwater I'm fine.  Can't see a thing though; too murky.

Chlorine makes my eyes itch, but I can see a lot more clearly.

I mean, a lot of people can do it.  I don't think I know anyone my age who can't.

This.

Im the only one my age that cant...

oh i went swimming to a pool once with my bff, and somebody i dont like came, and since my starsign elements water, he was like "oh a water type that cant open her eyes underwater!" and he laughed and stole my goggles so i just was like "uh oh...this will burn...." then i said "meet you underwater!" and he went "ummm....okay? but you dont have any goggles on...." and i said "uh who cares about my goggles." and we went underwater and i was like....opening my eyes slightly....then i opened them wider...and then i opened them completely and when we went back up to the surface he was like "wow. you just opened them."
i was like "oh...so it doesnt burn afterall....~"

Re: Can you open your eyes underwater?

I need glasses, but I do. I don't have goggles, though I would like.
Actually, I only do it after I've been in the water for a little while. After going about a year without swimming, I still have to get used to it again.
If I'm not ready, I can EITHER hold my breath OR open my eyes, but not both.  sad

Anyone can open their eyes underwater. It just matters if it burns and if they can see.

Of course, as long as it isn't sea water, I can do it in any swimming pool.

No, you can pretty much do it anywhere easily as long as it isn't chlorine. We can have salt in our eyes, but it burns afterwards. You can see though.

I can, I just prefer to wear goggles. It stings too much without them.

Re: Can you open your eyes underwater?

Yup, goggles are overrated. I started practicing when I first moved to a house with a pool. Now, I'm trying to strengthen my eyesight so it won't be so blurry. It doesn't sting normally, your eyes just feel a bit uncomfortable at first.

Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?

Re: Can you open your eyes underwater?

I have really sensitive eyes, it hurts even if I get normal, fresh water in them. I need goggles.
