You're also forgetting about the age demographic too. Smosh isn't aimed at 10 year olds like a lot of the cartoons / shows you watch are or whatever the age demographic is.

True. But shows like iCarly which aren't funny are aimed higher.

iCarly is aimed at 12 year olds girls, and lots of children under 10. It doesn't appeal to you, but it appeals to them. Just like Smosh might appeal to you, but it doesn't appeal to a lot of others

FAIL.

I call this theory the awesome theory. It shall be that forever.

And yes, I agree. And remember Ace, the topic says "Why SOME people hate TV shows but not Youtube Videos." Remember that.

But I love Smosh and nigahiga. I created a theory of why professional writers can't do better than teenagers and 20 year olds.

I think our expectations are raised when we watch TV. If we turn on a TV, we see professional stuff, and our expectations of the show is high. When we watch a slightly less professional video, our expectations are lowered, but then some have great stuff in them, and we love/like them better than TV Shows and movies and such.

What do you think? Is this the reason?

I think Charlie the Unicorn and Annoying Orange should be made into children shows.

NOOOO! They'll have to cut out everything that is funny D:

No, it's actually because you can't find a speed run of I Wanna Be The Guy on TV.

Because I see TV as more complex and it's much richer and I just see it as more professional, and it's just not funny sometimes, so yes I agree with you, and yes I do think that the expectations play a part when i watch something. That's just me. And I'm asking: WHAT ABOUT YOU? See?

That's just an assumption. What makes you think some Youtube programming doesn't have as much production as some TV Shows, or that TV Shows are so 'professional'?

I know it's an assumption. What case are you making? I'm agreeing that some videos are much funnier and explaining I think expectation play a part. That's about it. What are you arguing about?

A good case for the Youtube videos is freddiew. It takes about 3 months to make his videos.

I can't think of an un-professional TV show at the moment.

The same theory holds true for stuff on Scratch. Your projects, for example SpriteMaster, exceed the exceedingly low standard of animation on Scratch and therefore get popular.

So, if we flood the place with good animations...

Well I don't really consider his animations "good" but they are above the average quality and we're not expecting more than a cheap fart joke or two when we watch them.

Haters don't count in this theory, because they gotta hate. No matter what.

There. You being sarcastic about me being sarcastic.
At first I thought it was lame, but when I watched it I realised it was actually good.
Have you watched an episode, or do you just hate it? If you did watch an episode, continue hating it. If you didn't, watch and then continue hating it.

Well, it's the same theory as Youtube. The videos on Youtube are generally un-professional, whether it's a bad camera, or unfunny or whatever. But when you see one that at least exceeds that like nigahiga you laugh and think it's good because you weren't expecting something that good.

On Scratch it could be choppy, unfunny, whatever. So when people see yours their funnier/better than average so they laugh even if they aren't as good as a pro or whatever. It's hard to explain.
