Re: Report bugs in the Flash-Based Scratch Player beta here!

Your computer's Operating System: Windows
Your web browser's name and version: Firefox 4
Flash version: 10.3.181.26
Description of Problem: in the Flash Player the comparison operator "size = 100" doesn't get TRUE even when the size is really 100
Link to project: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/s_federici/1880351

Instructions:
- Click several times on the image: the size goes up from 100 in steps of 10
- move the mouse pointer close to the border: the size goes down in steps of 10
- the "repeat untile size = 100" control block doesn't stop running the internal blocks even when the size is 100.

The projects works well both in Scratch 1.4 and in the Java player.

I have checked the list and this bug doesn't seem to be in it:

When sprites are draggable, the x and y values are updated only when the mouse is let go - example here: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/jji7skyline/1631962

It however works perfectly in the Java player.

Here is the bug again using the template because no-one replied.

Your computer's Operating System: Windows Vista
Your web browser's name and version: Firefox 4 or 5. (I think 5.)
Flash version: 10.3.181.34
Description of Problem: The (list) block doesn't report correctly. In Scratch or Java, if all of the items in the list are only one character long, it reports without spaces. Here it reports with spaces period. This makes the projects fail.

Re: Report bugs in the Flash-Based Scratch Player beta here!

If I try switching to Flash Player, nothing happens. I just see a picture of the project. If I move my cursor onto it, it says "You need Adobe Flash to play this." I have flash, and I think it's the newest version. Any suggestions?

Same thing for me. What browsers do this player work in? IE and Firefox both don't work properly for me.

When can we expect the next build of the flash player?  And, will it have these bugs fixed?  If they are, all of my projects will be playable on the flash player... and, I will look like this:  big_smile

what I've noticed, is that when I set the "ghost" effect to a function of a variable, it doesn't work. Examples:

Re: Report bugs in the Flash-Based Scratch Player beta here!

here is our setup:

when green flag is clicked, our introduction sprite appears--prompting user for their subject # (we are a psych lab)...

...after entering their subject ID and their session number, a new sprite and a new background appear, and this sprite begins doling out arithmetic problems; the user types the correct answer and presses enter, a new question appears, so on and so forth.

THE MAJOR PROBLEM WE ARE HAVING WITH THIS SCRIPT:

after the subject has completed all of the problems, a broadcast "Done" is sent out, which prompts a new block of blocks to begin...

..in this new block of blocks, user again meets the introduction sprite and the introduction background, is told their correct/incorrect score, and is thanked for participating.  the bottom  block in this mini-script says

[blocks] <stop script> [/blocks]

the script does not stop completely though--if the user thereafter presses "enter" or "space bar" the script restarts and their recorded data is lost.

tried stop all and this does nto work either.

help?

Re: Report bugs in the Flash-Based Scratch Player beta here!

Hi, jlyman1.

Stopping a project (e.g. using "stop all" or the stop button) does not disable the "when _ key pressed" event triggers -- they are always active. However, you can use a variable to control what gets done by the key pressed scripts. For example, you might make a variable called "disableKeys" and add the following at the start of each "when key _ pressed" script:

  if disableKeys > 0
    stop script

Make sure you set disableKeys to zero when your program starts, then set it to 1 when you want to disable the key pressed scripts.

Hope that helps!

Re: Report bugs in the Flash-Based Scratch Player beta here!

I posted this bug in the thread in announcements (I probably didn't notice this thread) -- so I'll post it here since it still seems to be occuring.

Your computer's Operating System: Windows
Your web browser's name and version: Chrome (12)
Flash version: 10.3.181.35
Description of Problem: In fullscreen, when a sprite is using the say block, in some situations, certain text does not appear. For example, in one situation Gobo is supposed to be saying "Welcome to the Scratch Community!", however the word community does not appear, so there is an empty white space.
