Re: October 21st, the End of the World

At Penn State on Monday, while we were walking back from our presentations, there was a guy in front of the Creamery handing out brochures about this. 12three and a couple of us were gonna go back and own him with some of the arguments he's using now, but he was gone by the time we got back.  sad

In all seriousness, nothing is going to happen. Nothing ever happened in...whatever those many other years where the world was going to end, such as Y2K.

If you are reading this, please read to the end, because if you don't you won't know what's at the end. Don't just skip to the end though otherwise you won't be able to read the middle, which is most important. Now you must be wondering why you just read all that, the reason is you may have not noticed something, read it again and see if you notice it this time  smile

Yeah. Basically everyone, the 2011 part comes from this.
The great flood was according to the bible in 4990 BC. God said something about doing something similar a week later, but in another bible verse it states that one day is as a thousand years. So you get seven thousand years. They subtracted 4990, got 2010, but then had to add one since they're is no 0 AD. That makes 2011. I forget how you get the date exactly, but it makes moderate sense.
However, according to Matthew 25:13, 'Nobody can predict the day or the hour' which is refering to judgement day.

Then it would of happened in 2010, but we are in 2011. They added a extra year for a reason that dosen't really matter. AHA!!!

Facepalm
did you read it? There is no 0ad so you take away a year from 4990. Dude come on get a third grade reading comprehension level.

That was uncalled for. Let's be nicer to each-other. All you needed to say is to point out the reason why, and even then imsosuperswell1 may have meant that there being no 0 ad isn't enough of a reason to call it a reason at all! Just because there isn't an 0 ad for humans doesn't mean that the world will end a year later.

Wait! The wheel only has 9999 stops! That's unfair, it needs to be an even number! Lets make that with eight stops the wheel went around five times so we need to subtract 5 from it, THE WORLD WILL END 2998 (if 2099 fails)! I WILL BE DEAD BY THEN! On that note, I think this whole thing is ludicrous. If you read the "logic" they use, the assumptions they make are really quite outlandish; it's only one preposterous conclusion on top of another several layers thick. If you want to read an article on the way they came to this conclusion, you can find it here.

I'd like to also say that I don't intend to insult the intelligence of Christians or the validity of their beliefs. Obviously the people making these claims are not indicative of most Christians out there. I'm just baffled at how they can make so many crazy connections and assumptions while glossing over verses that quite clearly state "No one knows when that day or hour will come" (Matthew 24:36)

I'm sure that the fundamentalists wouldn't agree.

Just in case you haven't noticed, there is rationale behind this one. You just can't respect that, not that I care, but this is the second time I've seen a similar post to this in this topic.

Of course this power is unprovable and should not be mentioned on Scratch. Unless you mean Mother Nature of course.
