Why...? (Random Forum Related Question)

So i know that the scratch team doesn't like arguements, flame wars, or people getting mad at each other. So my question is why they include the  mad  smiley face, when it shows hostility and makes the other person feel either guilty at provoking such an emotion, or riles them up to retaliate.

Why? I am just curious...

Re: Why...? (Random Forum Related Question)

Maybe the intent was for it to be used for sarcasm or as a way to avoid text flames? I have no idea, nice question!

Re: Why...? (Random Forum Related Question)

I think it can be used to express frustration at anything, not necessarily another person.
Example:

Hypothetical poster said:
Ugh, I just can't get this script to work right!  mad

This is a random question...

I think it's just like why the [email] tag is kept...

EDIT:

EDIT2: I've just realized that they've removed the [email] tag from the help page.

Good.
They haven't changed "produce" to "produces" for the smiles though.

But that isn't important...

The ST has to consider priorities I guess:

1. !!!!!!!! Scratch 2.0 !!!!!!!!
2. Fixing the censor problems
3. Other important stuff
5.Non-urgent Grammar-Nazi things
6. ???
7. PROFIT!

Re: Why...? (Random Forum Related Question)

Hey look at my sig:

I used  mad  because they are in last place  mad  (though it is too early to worry about standings  tongue ). See, there are many uses, besides for flame wars.
