Seriously! I mean sure their newer stuff is absolutely horrid. However, their first three albums are all great albums! On their first album with Fergie (third over all) her vocals are wonderful (long before autotune), and their songs actually had meaning. Sure, Monkey Business and up is just a bunch of stupid pop-rap songs, but the earlier songs had a lot of social commentary in it.
So instead of hating on BEP, hate on NEWER BEP. Your opinions on this?

Well a rap song really isn't that much. People are out there writing music thats more than just words with rhythm and they aren't making squat. Lady Gaga and Kesha and all those people on hits music stations scrap together songs patheticly in ten minutes and BAM! To the top of the charts they go. I have no respect for the Black Eyed Peas.

Hey, when you can make millions of dollars doing that, you can feel free to criticize

Who cares about the social commentary in a song? It may have a good message, but the sound might still suck.
Anyway, people who say they hate the mainstream are just hipsters, because hating the mainstream is cool now. You make so many topics about music to tell people what to like, when you should just listen to the music you want to listen to and let others listen to what they want to listen to.

Also, for those of you that think rapping is nothing but swearing, sexism, and other stuff, explain these lyrics in a rap song:
It just ain't the same, always unchanged
New days are strange, is the world insane
If love and peace is so strong
Why are there pieces of love that don't belong
Nations droppin' bombs
Chemical gasses fillin' lungs of little ones
With ongoin' sufferin' as the youth die young
So ask yourself is the lovin' really gone
So I could ask myself really what is goin' wrong
In this world that we livin' in people keep on givin'
in
Makin' wrong decisions, only visions of them dividends
Not respectin' each other, deny thy brother
A war is goin' on but the reason's undercover
The truth is kept secret, it's swept under the rug
If you never know truth then you never know love
Where's the love, y'all, come on (I don't know)
Where's the truth, y'all, come on (I don't know)
Where's the love, y'all
That is "Where Is The Love" by The Black Eyed Peas. Of course this is swearing, sexism, and violence!
[/sarcasm]
Rap, especially earlier rap does have meaning. Yes, I won't deny some rap is just swearing, sexism, and violence, but that's just mostly mainstream sell out rappers.

Your response to the previous post?
@Blade-Edge: If they don't like the sound, then they don't have to listen to it, but they at least have to stop complaining that "Black Eyed Peas have no meaning". They don't NOW, but they did before.

No but most mainstream music is created by untalented weirdos.

I can definitely agree, but I'm talking about BEP before they released Monkey Business, and completely sold out.

They made us listen to that in school and then "analyze" the "lyrics"
Also Blade I'm not a hipster, and I totally agree with you about letting people listen to what they want

i've never really heard sexism in rapping
so what?
yeah i'd be making songs too if i made millions of dollars, even if they WERE horrible, who wouldn't?

Never heard them... But I've heard Slash's Beautiful Dangerous which featured Fergie (and she sang pretty good there IMO, love that track).

Black Eyed who?
Honestly, if they use an excessive amount of autotune, then I aint listening. I'll stick to bands who actually make music.
Well, now you know I have been stuck in the 80's.

They only use autotune on in their later work.
@samurai768: I don't think they were jerks back when I loved them. And even if they were, they were genius jerks. When did your dad meet them? =/
