Seeing as this is in medieval times, I really think the characters should be all boys. Hopefully that won't offend anyone. And for hairstyle, I really have no preference as long as it isn't too modern.

Aw, having both genders would be nicer

Heh heh, let's have fun with the hairstyles

Oh don't be boring Just because warriors were mainly boys back then doesn't mean the project's world has to be the same...

OK. I knew one gender was a long shot anyway. And fiction isn't supposed to be real.

Yay
Idea: How about there's you and two others - one is a boy who really likes fighting (has good fighting power in game) and killing things, and one is a girl who used to be a pirate (has good tactics in game)?
Offline
Hmm... a pirate would be mixing this game with a whole new element. Let's try to keep it space-oriented. Well, I suppose she could be a space pirate, captured by COED, who volunteers to help on the mission in return for her freedom?
Are we getting to complicated here team?
(By the way, the powerful boy is good. He'll have to have a head of temper as well (in keeping with archetypes ;P) ).

Who says pirates can't be space-related? A pirate isn't specifically someone who sits on a ship on the water and gets drunk; a pirate is someone who tries to steal goods from passing people, right? They would use spaceships if they could
(hahaha, I'm already disliking that boy xD At least he's got a clear character)
EDIT: BTW, weapon question (assuming this is turn-based rpg, not mutiny): What types of weapons do you have in mind? Swords, crossbows, staffs; electric blades, laser rifles, energy spear?
I'm thinking:
Main character, medieval: whatever you give him
Main character, futuristic: whatever you give him
Boy who likes killing, medieval: Huge sword
Boy who likes killing, futuristic: Fanged, electric, scary blade
Past pirate, medieval: Crossbow (maybe two at once? xD)
Past pirate, futuristic: Laser rifle or two pistol-like thingies
If I'm acting too bossy or 'let's do this' or whatever, just say so

Shadow: Hey, we're just deciding the personalities right now - and we want those to be very thought-out, right?
Eh, the space-pirate-working-for-her-freedom idea is fine with me
Chris: Those weapons seem to fit the characters pretty nicely

Random Idea:
You could collect little 'companions' along the way. Like a bee or something to that effect, that floats right behind you the rest of the game.

Yes, but I also think we need a basis for them, which we've just created. Gender and the feel and origins of a character are essential. From that we can build a plot around them and their particular character flaws.

Do we have any girls in the team? That might help in the personalities and such.

I'm going to triple post for convenience sake, so please don't get offended anyone.

WAIT what? I though we were doing Mutiny. XD I'm so confused. Right here, right now, let's make a decision. We should give one day for everyone to vote on which fighting style they want. I thought Mutiny was the general consensus, but I guess I'm wrong.

We're crossing a very fine line with space and medieval. Having a "futuristic" element may be taking it too far.
I'm thinking of space as the setting, and medieval as the time period. And unfortunately, in the medieval time period they didn't have laser guns and spaceships.
But I'm hope I'm not being to decisive (or worse, BOSSY! ). I want everyone to have their input in this.

Yes we do. She is a former pirate working for her freedom.

Possibly... but again, that's adding another element this game probably can't support. What I mean by that is, I'm not sure we can pull it off if we combine three or four genres (you're proposing a different kind of fantasy element), let alone two.

Whoa. You've been kind of easy going this entire time about the planning process. We proposed the idea about space and medieval ages ago and you seemed fine with it.
What made you change your mind?

No, I mean in the collab.
And I think we should do a more puzzle theme. And not mutiny. I like it but, I don't think we should make it. Its practically a remake.

I don't know what you mean by "in the collab". It says in your original post:
ProgrammingFreak wrote:

And it wouldn't be a remake. That's what I've been trying to convince people of for a while now. We would NOT copy it. The reason I used the project Mutiny was that it was a project accessible and familiar to everyone. That's just a basis for the style of fighting, nothing more.

Clearly we all have different ideas about what should go in this game.
I probably shouldn't be the one to finalize our decision since I'm so opinionated.
Someone else can work out what exactly we'll do.

I vote turn-based rpg, sorry Shadow...
About theme: Somehow I always imagined it to blend xD

NP. Everyone is entitled to an opinion.

To be honest, I felt that way too...
...
You know, I don't really care much about how we do it Sorry, but as I haven't decided between single or mixed theme, and turn-based or mutiny, I can't really give my opinion. ^^
