Ooh, Mutiny is awesome

Cool! We still need 100% approval though...
TheSaint, Playwithfire, and ProgrammingFreak, we need you!

Sounds like a plan, stan.
I think that it is awesome, and that we can get some awesome storyline going with Shadows epic idea.
A mutiny-like fight engine sounds like a good idea. If you want, I can get to work on that now.

Thanks. Actually, it kind of just came together quickly, the way archetypal stories sometimes do.

And some rush hour thrown in when collecting the loot of your dead enemies.
IMHO, the rush hour puzzle should happen when you want to access certain planets that would give you an advantage in a battle.

I would be fine if we did that except ALL dragons and not aliens.
I suppose all dragons and not aliens makes sense. I just don't want to limit COED to JUST dragons (that's why there is extraterrestrial in the name).
Notice how this game is kind of a continuation of the first. I also set up a threequel at the end (if we still want to do another project after this one).
Of course, one there IS one thing I want to make sure is OK. Jonathan and Chris, this is going to require a lot of graphics and cut-scenes. Are you comfortable with creating and animating those? If not, we should find someone willing to animate for the team or find a new story.
Lastly, I apologize for the typos. I'm on vacation in New Zealand ( ) right now and we went snorkeling today. We left before I could review the story, but I decided to submit it anyway.
I meant no planets, or anything. Like, towns and castles take place of planets.

I don't like the fighting style in mutiny, but i love turn-based. I also think we should have one genre only.

Mutiny was cool, but if we can get a turn-based RPG going, it would be sooooo awesome
BTW, look at the Collab Challenge's feedback on Dragon Defense:
This is an exceptionally well crafted game with a simple and compelling storyline, a large cast of enemies, and excellent gameplay. The upgrade system is well thought out, and adds to the tension (it's hard to figure out which upgrade to go with while under attack!). The one thing missing is sound (left out because of technical difficulties, according to comments). Hats off to this collab for working together to create a great game that Scratchers will be playing for a long long time.

Turn-based is my favorite of all (I prefer it over mutiny, actually) - but what exactly would fit better here? :S Turn-based is quite limiting when you're the only character...
EDIT: But I would really prefer turn-based if we could get it going well.

Some examples of turn-based RPGs:
Great turn-based RPG example
The best Flash game ever (and it's turn-based)
If we can achieve a turn-based RPG like one of those, we're set to pwn

Play those For the first one, do several battles before assuming it's rubbish if you think it's rubbish (it gets really good later on), and for the second one, talk to as many villagers as you want but go north and fight the bushes and stuff that blocks your road - IT'S KILLER

Turn based it is.
(I hate my new comp, because I had a working Sonny engine, which is the most popular turn based flash game...but it got deleted.) Ah well, I can always redo it to fit our needs. Turn based it is!
Also, everyone, CONGRATULATIONS!!! We will be selected from the Collab challenge! (At least I assume so since they left a really nice note on our project.) You guys rock, all 7? of you.

Hey, EBF3 has a higher rating than Sonny - and it is better than Sonny
TURN-BASED WOOOOOOOOOOO
And yeah, I hope we get picked - but as we already have over 750 views, they might not feel the need...

Monsters had more, and they put it up, so I think we're good on that front.

OK, we need a to-do. Starting with priority to wanted.
~Enemy types
~Turn Based Engine
and some more. What else do we need? I kept it short on purpose.

Are you accepting since your working on a new game? Sorry, I don't want to bug you... But every single other collab I've been in has failed... (except for CW, but that isn't up till summer) I'd like to work with a successful collab.

+1 buddy

Hey guys... turn-based fighting defeats the whole idea of having gravity and planets. Unless the gravity is only to walk around, which I think would be limiting an awesome idea.
But I'm overruled, so...
And soup, you seem like the only person with an objection to this idea. Maybe we can come up with a compromise?
EDIT: Also, there are tons of turn-based RPGs out there already. I hope I'm not being to pushy, but I really think we should do something original.

Oh, that's how the game was going to work?

While there are many good ones out there, I still haven't seen one that was absolutely killer...

I guess if everyone else is happy with turn-based, I can be happy too.

I don't think they are any Scratch projects at all that are absolutely killer, but Collab Monsters is close IMO

You have a point there too

I'll check it out :3
EDIT: Back It's not killer, but it's way closer than all other Scratch turn-based RPGs...

We'd have to focus a lot to top that RPG fighting, and I don't think that's where we want to spend all of our resources on this project. HOWEVER, in the threequel, I think a turn-based fighting system would be perfectly fitting.

(I think we're being a bit ambitious - we should start small for now :3)
