IMO, planks shouldn't be a currency, at all. Logs could be a better currency IMO, yet still they shouldn't be worth much considering tree farms are easy to make, harvest and replant. Also with changing werdna's system I mean something like this, including the logs idea:
C is possible though, we've been doing it the whole time and the few markets (including the Acres' homes) in Scratchia/Sunny Acres are doing fine. But if you think about, usually, when you find a diamond, you find at least 2, and at most, 6. 6 x 128 = 768 coal. 6 x 64 = 384 iron, 6 x 48 = 288 gold (and gold is actually really hard to find, so I say it should be 10 - 20 to a diamond), 6 x 128 = 768 logs (
), 6 x 32 = 128 clay (if we're talking about clay balls, 32 are actually really easy to find), 6 x 16 = 96 lapis.
But few people could bother to mine that many coal, iron, gold, lapis or logs.
Clay is actually pretty abundant sometimes though, everytime you find some near a shore you get like 3 full stacks, or 6 diamonds if we implement this system.
Maybe clay shouldn't be a currency at all (at most an item to be sold) and 24/32 gold = 1 diamond.
What I was saying was diamond might be worth a bit too much if you view it that way.

Oh. In that case maybe something like this:
werdna123 wrote:
1 diamond
=
48 iron
=
128 coal (leave it like that, coal is way too easy to find. If not, at most leave it at 1.5 stack, or 96 coal)
=
24 gold
=
128 logs (same as coal)
=
8 lapis (...and lapis is FREAKING HARD to find.)

I guess I agree with that for the most part.

Will check johndo's version of the save now
We also need more votes to decide how we'll organize Scratchia's currency system. Maybe if A or B is chosen, we can replace the useless Scratchia forum with a currency trading building?

I say just use ores as currency, no need for points or anything like that.

But unless we stick to 1 ore only (which might be unpractical for small items, or big items if we use coal or something) currency exchanging will be eventually necessary. And the exchanging is already simple enough, especially since we're talking about fractions of stacks (8, 24, 32 etc).

Oh, I see. There could be a fee for allowing your stuff to be exchanged.

Should I destroy the forum??

No, don't.

You guys are picky. This system works fine:
1 Iron Ingot = 1 credit
1 gold= 10 credit
1 diamond = 25 credits
It's actually been USED and has WORKED, and there's not much to remember.

Ore works fine too, and I don't want to have to change the prices on my signs.

Hmmm good point! So, use ores separately, and allow stuff to be exchanged at the forum with, say, a %10 fee or something. If you have less than 10 of the ore, pay one still. That might complicate diamond exchange though.

Maybe just always have the fee be 1 coal, or, if you're exchanging a diamond, the fee is 3 - 5 coal?

Durn it! I get the save tomorrow (Sunday) and I'm usually out pretty much all day on Sundays D: .

Awh, I like the percentage idea. D: Maybe 1 of the mineral you're offering, and if it's diamond and you offer less than 3 or 5 you may pay 8 Iron Ingots instead.

Eh...I guess that'd be fine.

Ok then.
A: 2 (me and werdna)
B: 0
C: 3 (adriangl, johndo and Sunrise-Moon)
Looks like we won't estabilish any standards.
Poll should end in some 3 days.

Wait, I just thought... Who would get the fee? There's no government in Scratchia, and I don't think someone in particular should be in charge of the currency exchange. Maybe they should go to the Ore Chest, which should be ONLY used for public stuff.

Where would the ore in the ore chest come from? Us. You put your unused ore in a chest so you can gain extra ore while you're waiting for your turn. The ore will be exchanged for other ore, and so you gained a sort of "interest". Get what I'm saying?

No I don't get it, I fail at economics actually...
*actually bothers to analyse it*
Ok, so. You put, say, 64 coal in the ore chest... Someone trades it for, say, 16 Iron and pays 1 extra Iron as a fee. So you earn that extra Iron and get the other iron for your coal? But how would the interest work?

Nononononononono, no InvEdit plz. If you want... Darn it I don't have material for a decent building. But I have like a stack and half of Sandstone if you need that, it makes good marbley floors.
