You don't seem to understand- we're not using sprites for the blocks, we're using stamped sprites and stuff. When a block is broken, the background color of the sky (blue) is stamped upon the broken block. Unfortunately, this itself is a stamp, and stamps can not have their brightness changed. Since there is no "erase" stamp, which would fill in the selected section with the current background, there's nothing we can do to add night without going through considerable trouble and possible lag.

So far it's going good, I just need to let the player return to the surface (right now either you fall in lava or nothing) and I'll be ready. Also I made a cool sprite for the obsidian
EDIT: Btw, will the new version have smelting and stuff? If not then the ore blocks will just give iron/gold ingots and diamonds for now.

Making 3x3 grid...
An update for those who want to make new items (for when my new version is out):
1st: Make 10x10 image
2nd: Add the image to the Border sprite.
3rd: Add another 'add 0 to Inventory'
4th: Add a new inventory block, with a 20x20 enlargement of the picture.
5th: Add inventory numbers for the new item.
6th Add code to the mining and placing parts of Border.
7th: Add the colors to the man sprite so he can step on it.
8th (optional): Add the crafting recipie to Stuff, crafting a workbench would be 440440000, the 1st 3 numbers are the top row, left to right (3x3 grid is extended to the left and bottom), 2nd 3 are 2nd row, and so on.
9th (optional): Add 20x20 sprites crafting style to all of the crafting table sprites.
10th (optional): Add the item id of what it makes to the Makes list.
11th (optional): Add the amount to the Amount list.
