Re: Minecraft 2D Collaboration [no longer accepting applications]

In my attempt, I had 42 80*80 tiles on the screen. The actual costumes themselves were 16*16 to save space (there were about 200 costumes) but the sprite was enlarged to 500%.

The glass is never half full nor half empty; it is twice as large as it needs to be.

We're going to be using the stamp function so there won't be very many sprites.

So, can someone give me a quick summary of where we're at? And what should I work on?

Either read the whole thread, check the link at the bottom of the first post, or both. (Both would be good.)

Ok, it's updated.

Here.

I think I just made improvements to the movement or something, nothing big.

I like how small the images are though- it makes it so you have to play in presentation mode.

Well, I wouldn't like to force anyone to do anything.  tongue  Increasing the size to 15*15 shouldn't be an huge difference... To 20*20 maybe it'd be but remember, we want it to be as fast and versatile as possible.  wink  Anyway I'll see if I can improve the generating speed by implementing my suggestions to Necro's last version.

I made a 20*20 grass block, and it looked too big. I'll see what 15*15 is like.  smile

Dang. Could you let me be part of the collab  big_smile

Pwetty please?

Agh. I don't want to have too many people in this collab, but you're awesome at Scratch...

Fine, but you're the final person. Everyone hold me to it if someone else tries to join, ok?

You bet.  big_smile  Did you remove breaking?

15*15 is good enough IMO, I'm working in a new version with 15*15 and slight changes in the terrain generation.

I'm updating the game right now, fixing charrie spawning (so he's at the top) and adding basic inventory.

Ok this is getting out of control. I think more than 3 people is MORE than enough, this could end badly...
Anyways anything i could do?

Not saying you should leave, i meant that the 3 most inactive ones should leave. This will go very slow if there are so much people

Enemies and other animals, basically.

Also I'll not be able to work much in the game tomorrow so the other two, go ahead. I already have ideas on implementing the mining minigame though, maybe add it as a little extra that can be played when you dig to the bottom of the map? It won't affect the main game in any way and it'll be entirely optional.  smile

Re: Minecraft 2D Collaboration [no longer accepting applications]

Should there be a bottom of the map? Should we possibly have like one mob? It wouldn't be too hard to make a mob. Maybe we could make it so it spawns when you visit a new area, and, if you kill it, you "claim" the territory.  smile

Also, y'all are all valuable to this team. If you want to do something, just say, and we'll [probably] let you do it.

I just added a simple inventory to it. Nothing special, but it will work for now. I like the "Claiming" part, by the way!

Oh, here's he link to the inventory version:

Re: Minecraft 2D Collaboration [no longer accepting applications]

Ok, something got messed up when I merged the two updated versions. Now the physics aren't working right. Also guys, make sure that no one is working on the project at the moment before you edit it so we don't get off-sync projects.

OK. Trees partially finished. They have to be 2 or more blocks high,  and have leaves on top. Just need to make leaves on the sides.

Well, I really loved the idea of accessing a little mining minigame when you reach the bottom of the map (touch the bottom edge).  tongue  It'd be a good extra feature and anyway I don't think many people would like to build stuff underground (we're concentrating on making a clone of creative mode right?).

Maybe just let the player choose between playing the minigame or generating an underground chunk.

Maybe the minigame can unlock certain blocks or something!
