Maybe move the 10MB limit up?

I find those limits EXTREMLY irratating. Any specific reason for them?  hmm

Well if you wanted honesty, that's all you had to say. I never want to let you down or have you go, it's better off this way.

Re: Maybe move the 10MB limit up?

It's the only amount java can handle
Once 2.0 is out and upgraded to flash, the limit will be higher

Re: Maybe move the 10MB limit up?

It's because of 2 things:
1. The Java player that plays Scratch projects online is pretty limited, and can't run big projects well.
2. There's only so much space on the Scratch server.
But with Scratch being moved to Flash, the new online player will be able to handle bigger projects, so the Scratch Team is going to increase the limit.

Yawn.

3. On a slow connection, 10 megabytes takes a long time to load. Any more than that could take hours.

Also, when Scratch is ported to Flash, projects themselves will be much smaller, unlike now where just adding a few long scripts can noticeably increase the size.

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

Re: Maybe move the 10MB limit up?

I think they should boost it to between 15 and 20 mb. That would give enough space for large graphics and large sounds, without being unreasonable.  smile

I fall: It's a tragedy. You fall: It's comedy.
Hmph enjoy your fall - I get a lovely spring... without pans of new leaves.

Actually, 2.0 Offline will be flash too, so no need for a patch! Probably the new version will be equally integrated just like the online one.

What, the experimental viewer? I heard that some features (like pen) don't work on it.
Anyways, I hope it comes soon. BTW, if you want that post, here it is.  big_smile

Thanks! Not a long, tiring wall of text (I love those  big_smile ) but it's good enough to suit me for now. Let's hope these news really come soon...

It would cost too much money, but if they could, that would be great!

Re: Maybe move the 10MB limit up?

If you would have read all the above posts, you would have learned that it wouldn't cost too much money with flash decreasing the size of projects...

It won't cost too much money. If I've heard correctly from Paddle2See* its just the Java Player that can't handle it, once 2.0 is out we'll be moved to Flash Player and the limit will go up.
