3D games on scratch

I think scratch would be so much better we could create 3D projects.3D projects would be so cool. There is only one project that i know of that is 3D.But imagine:a program that lets members create 3D projects without using command prompt. All of you who agree with me,please reply.I also think members should also be able to make mmorpg's.

Re: 3D games on scratch

It is possible to create 3-D games in Scratch (See BenTheNeighbor's page) but very difficult. If you are looking to create a 3-D game, it would be more easily done in a different programming language.

Re: 3D games on scratch

This is a good idea; many have asked for 3D.
Here's the latest with some other good suggestions like Alice.

Re: 3D games on scratch

The Scratch Team has said "no" to the idea many times. It's not that it's a bad idea, but it would require huge modifications to the Scratch engine. Plus, there's the whole issue of 3D models which usually require you to make them in an external program - so no.

If you want to make 3D games, though, you should definitely take a look at Starlogo TNG and Alice - both are designed specifically for that.

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

Re: 3D games on scratch

How about making mmorpgs?Cant scratch make an mmorpg maker? They have said no to 3D games many times, but what about mmorpgs? We might not be able to 3D games, but nobody said anything about no multiplayer games.

Re: 3D games on scratch

Making full MMORPGs is also unlikely, because the Scratch Team doesn't have the server space for that. However, with Mesh, it's already possible to make Scratch games that can be played over the internet! Mesh is a hidden feature in Scratch which allows two people to connect with the same project. It involves modifying Scratch slightly, but that link shows you how.

Also, the next version of Scratch (Scratch 2.0) is confirmed to have internet features, so multiplayer games aren't unlikely!

Re: 3D games on scratch

They have said no in many places: 1, 2, 3, 4.

While we can see the coolness factor of 3D, we want to keep Scratch simple. No matter how you slice it, 3D is pretty complex. For those who love 3D Alice, a 3D programming language, is already available! Check it out here: http://alice.org/

Re: 3D games on scratch

Excuse me... um... I found a project that was supposed to be a chatroom. I saw in the comments that you needed something called "mesh" to use it, so I can to the forums to see if I could fing out what it was and how to get it. I clicked the link that hmnwilson posted but it didn't work. Please help? ~Pugster122

Try this guide by Johnathonpb. It pretty much covers everything.  smile

And next time, don't be afraid to make your own topic  wink
