Are you re-recording it using a microphone? That will add a lot of noise. I think Audacity can accept input from other sources besides the microphone...that might be worth playing with.
Or, if all else fails, you might have some success using a patch cable to route your headphone output back into your microphone input. You stand a pretty good chance of over-powering your sound board though. Keep the volume very low and realize that you are voiding your warranty and doing this at your own risk

Edit: In answer to your first question. I recorded it in farps recording internal sound (only way I can think of) then converted it to Mp3.
