Now, which is more useful?

FlexiStudio : You've forgotten to add a forever block. [image of a good script]

YAY exactly my point!  big_smile

1. Who actually types like that on a kid's site?
I understood that perfectly. 2 years ago I would've too. That proves nothing.

2. What about a 13 year old mod, huh? (again, down with the 14 yr old rule, it's stupid IMO)

3. You just said younger mods are better. Vote against the 14 yr rule!

Someone might. You never know  wink
And I don't agree with the rule either; there are plenty of mature under-14s. I'm just saying, I think Flexi would do a good job because he's mature and to the point. And his Scratch Informer mags are amazing. Really helpful stuff in there. If you read it, you'll see what I mean.  smile

Dude, let it go. The Scratch Team's decision is final.

Besides, this topic should be discussing FlexiStudio's decision of running for mod.

Not true - it's a definite final answer, at least for the time being. I can say with complete confidence that it won't be changing in the near future. I'm afraid this is one of those things that won't be changing just because people want it to; quite similar to the "be respectful" rule and the TOU.

Some of the other candidates are getting really pushy, but you seem like, um, you're pretty cool about the whole thing. That's a good thing, because mods can't really be easily stressed, or frustrated.  big_smile

I'm just taking it in my stride, and if I'm not chosen then, there's always the next elections to look forward too. Besides, it's an experience; and I'm out to help - and hopefully this will help me to achieve my goal.

Not true - it's a definite final answer, at least for the time being. I can say with complete confidence that it won't be changing in the near future. I'm afraid this is one of those things that won't be changing just because people want it to; quite similar to the "be respectful" rule and the TOU.

TOU:
Be respectful. When sharing projects or posting comments, remember that people of many different ages and backgrounds will see your contributions.
Give one reason why not. Without this, there would be chaos. Without the 14 year limit, there would not be chaos.
Offer constructive comments. Instead of just criticizing a project or forum post, say what you like about it and offer suggestions on how to make it better.
Effectively the same as first one.
Give credit. Feel free to make modified versions of other people's projects - just make sure to give them credit. One place to give credit is in your Project Notes.
Copyrights...
Be honest. Don't pretend to be someone other than who you are or try to game the community.
Respectful argument.
Keep personal information private. Don't share your email address, phone number, or other personal contact information.
Legal thing if I remember correctly.
Help keep the site friendly. If you feel others would find a project or comment mean, insulting, too violent, or otherwise inappropriate, click the link that says "flag as inappropriate."  In the Forums, you can do the same thing by clicking on the "Report" link below a post. The Scratch team will review, and may remove any project, comment or post.
Give one reason why not. Without this, there would be chaos. Without the 14 year limit, there would not be chaos.

I can't imagine how adding such a rule would create chaos, as much as removing the rule would.

To state it again, The Scratch Team is not comfortable with those under 14 running for moderator. It is similar to how a parent doesn't want to expose their kids to certain things, even if the child does feels they are capable of handling such content.

The Scratch Team does think the age limit does have some cons in some ways, but, considering what moderators have to go through and the options available, the age limit was the best compromise they could come up with - they would rather have the age limit rather than have younger users handling the content that moderators have to handle at times (even if they, the younger users, appear to be mature enough to handle it).

Lastly, this argument is spilling over where it should not be - this is FlexiStudios' campaign thread. Please move this conversation over to the appropriate thread on the Announcements forum.
