Basic info:
Obama is challenging middle schoolers to create an educational video game, with big prizes! We can use any game design platform including Scratch!

Prize:
Something from a $50,000 prize pool, not $50,000.

Eligibility:

It seems to indicate that they want students attending American schools (either in the U.S., or overseas). I think American schools established outside the US might be included; I think you probably might not be able to enter unless your school was US-based institution.

However, we have something similar here in the UK, but it's focused on animation, instead of games. It's called something slightly different every year - in the 2009 competition, it was "Animation09", the 2010 contest (which I entered, and uploaded the rather badly animated project to one of my other accounts here... My French pronunciation was awful there, and it sounds weird to me now Dx I did it in French because it was my MFL teacher who told me about the contest), was Animation10 - and the 2011 contest will probably be Animation11. You can use a variety of softwares - from what I recall, it's Flash, Scratch, Greenfoot, Alice, and possibly more...

Just throwing something in there if you're from the UK and looking to enter a competition similar to this ^^

I'll try, even though I doubt I'll be able to enter, as I don't live in the US. I have some friends that are graphic designers that are epic at it.

I might also try making a new game on the theory that originality wins points and GQ3 isn't entirely original wink , I'll keep everyone posted if I decide to try this. It is a little irritating that this website seemingly provides so little information hmm (Sorry for the double post)

Yeah, the website could give a little more info. Remember- the game has to be educational in some way!

I saw that site, it just didn't seem to supply a lot of information about what the game should be like.

And you say it must be educational in some way, but all I saw it was "Submissions will be judged on a combination of fun and balanced gameplay, creative vision and incorporation of STEM concepts in game design and play experience."
