Well, it mostly depends on how helpful and friendly you are, so if you do that it probably won't be as long.

It's quite hard to be helpful and whatnot if you can't do a whole lot to begin with.

I'm probably going to wait out the 2 months and come back when I can post like a normal person 

Being inactive on the forums for 2 months isn't going to get you upgraded to Scratcher status, sorry. You have to prove yourself!

You have to be continually active for the entire two months? Does that mean Scratcher status is a thing that's applied manually?

This is going to be a looong two months.

At one point, i had 27 posts less than a month ago.
Help new Scratchers and Scratchers with questions every once in a while and you will get promoted!

(I was inactive for seven months, and i was still a new scratcher!    )

It's most definitely manual, not automatic after 2 months (or any other period of time.) And trust me TuffGhost, once you start posting, that time will fly by.

Hey Scr1ptr, the duration of the "New Scratcher" association depends on the activity of the new user - simply put, the more active you are on the main site and in the forums (yes, both is required), the more sooner the title will be changed to "Scratcher".
