There are cases where things should be ignored; this is one of those cases where showing ignorance to the situation is not good. Your comment was perceived as being hurtful; I would suggest thinking about what was said, and, in the future, watch what you type and submit.

It wasn't quite perceived as being hurtful, but rather they thought I didn't realize I was talking to 08jackt xD.

Regardless, this is true. I should think more before I joke around on the internet.

Well, as stated before, jokes often don't come off the way as intended on the internet (hence why others perceived your comment as an attack rather than as a joke). So it's still best to be careful to watch what is being written.

Hey cheddargirl in Scratchers Weekly there is an epic fail section where the user shows off a "fail" comment made by a random user. Obviously not everyone thinks it's funny, so wouldn't that be against the TOU?

It most likely might be (I haven't seen what this "fail" comment is, so it's hard to say here). The Terms of Use calls for users to be respectful and keep the site friendly, so if the "fail" comment is used to make fun of another user, then it's possible that it would be perceived as breaking the Term of Use.
