Support! Or maybe we could make it, so that when you post in misc, there will be no count added to your post count.

That's not the issue here, we just want the Miscellanous gone. Post counts barely have anything to do with it anymore, everyone besides me has stopped caring.

But people post in Misc, because they want a high post count. And Misc, is the only place to post pointlessly, in their eyes.

Not really. Because the post count thread by Jonathanpb is gone, it's not really the main reason any more.

Then why do we have so many pointless threads in Misc?
They just want to chat and stuff. Post counts at this point in time is a much smaller goal atm. Here's something for ya:
babies : eat, poop, cry ; scratchers : chat, troll, annoy
xD

If we deleted post counts, the number of spam posts would probably be the same, and there would be added Petitions to being back post count threads too. Though that's not really what you said... I'm just too lazy to retype it though so I'll aim this post at Lucario who wanted to get rid of post counts before.

You can't even post in there.

But he can see in there. Besides, we all need a break now and then. If you're a computer freak, fine. But don't expect everyone to act like one. I'm an internet freak.

He can see in there? What is your point? He still can't post in there. If anything, he should be for the closing of Miscellaneous.

Alright, let's call for a truce, cause discussions are getting heated up and we don't want a flame war, do we? I wish the Scratch Team would respond soon... I'm anxious.

It's not heating up unless you're trying to heat it up. And I will not call a truce, because you have not been giving any reasons as to why the miscellaneous should stay open, besides wanting to have a playground.

How about it gets broken down into differnet catagories? Like "Events" and "Fan Clubs" just an idea...

The spam would still build up in those forums then.

I strongly agree. I'm sure the scratch team will agree that Miscellaneous is a lot of bother moderating and keeping track of, not to mention the countless flames, flamebaits, bragging topics and stuff that simply doesn't belong on a programming website.
The main argument is sitting right in front of us;
Miscellaneous
Use this forum if you are not certain if the topic is directly related to Scratch.
This is the purpose of the Miscellaneous forum. Look at every thread; the author obviously KNOWS that it isn't directly related to scratch, so why even post in that section? You will also notice that nearly every thread goes offtopic (and a lot of the time spirals into an argument). Misc isn't good for the community either, the community is getting rowdier with each post. Tell me, moderators, how many reports do you get a day? How many bans a month? A lot, I can guess. Scratch is in ruin and the root of the downfall is Miscellaneous.
And of course, the more you post thoughtlessly in misc, the more bad press the Scratchy Scratch comics get on you. A lot of the co-authors live on misc.
Enforce more rules mods, shovel out bans, but it will not help as much as closing the sub-section altogether.
Not only will this improve the condition of scratch, and give the scratch team a break, but it will also encourage the community to make their own forums and thrive; as well as bringing attention back to the main point of scratch.

Well, with the topics more specific (and forget Events- too Twitery) there would be stricter guidlines for what would be put in each. Like no more "I'm going on Vacation!" and stuff.
And isn't spam trying to get projects more views? that's show-and-tell. right?

Miscellaneous is a leading factor in the decline of Scratch's programming ability as a whole, but actually most of the people who go on scratch don't even use the forum and a lot of them can't use Miscellaneous now. But I agree, if they just enforce the rules there wouldn't even be a need to delete the Miscellaneous (but if they don't it will just spiral out of control again). The best course of action is to delete the Miscellaneous.

That's not the only kind of spam. And there are already Stricter Rules (as opposed to the false belief of some lax rules floating around). They are just not being enforced.
