No way. They should make it the 120 second rule.

Re: Move Miscellaneous

I daresay I have suggested this directly to the Scratch Team, and after lengthy (as an understatement) discussion, me and the rest of the moderators have decided that it's rather impractical for a number of reasons I won't bore you with here.

However, I will give you the main issue: The TBGs are almost entirely community-run. This is simple with something like the TBGs where very few fights break out, and very rarely; however, on Miscellaneous, spam-like topics and flame wars break out almost consistently. Without the intervention of the Scratch Team as a largely patrolling force of the current moderating team, us moderators would be absolutely worthless. If Miscellaneous were moved to its own section, the new forum would be left with plenty of moderators who know nothing about what they're doing.

Re: Move Miscellaneous

So, why not make the existing mods who know what they're doing the mods on there as well? From what I've heard of it, moderating isn't that hard. You just help the same way a normal scratcher should, and respond to reports

There's a lot more than just that, you just don't see it because it all happens behind-the-scenes. Sometimes we moderators spend hours trying to clean up a flame war, or a spam "fad" - and Miscellaneous is the worst forum of them all for that kind of stuff. It's not something that should be taken lightly, especially with a near-absence of the Scratch Team.

Wait for DaGamez to respond, I'm sure he's just waiting for the right time to release his excellent points that will blow everyone's minds and get the Miscellaneous immediately deleted! (Maybe....okay probably not)

Re: Move Miscellaneous

But then we could put Miscellaneous in Archived Forums, because then there would be no fads, trends, etc., so less work for moderators, there wouldn´t be spam, there wouldn´t be an extra site, so it would be perfect. I mean, there´s no point for a miscellaneous forum in a programming site anyway. Do programmers care about someone getting teeth pulled out, I believe not.

So, you mean just close Miscellaneous anyways?

Well, you weren't around in 2008. Why was Inspiration and More put in? Because Show and Tell was essentially Miscellaneous. Closing Miscellaneous altogether would get all sorts of miscellany seeping into the other forums, which isn't something we'd like. People, especially at the target age of Scratch, like to chat, and there's no way to stop that.

Re: Move Miscellaneous

I said something like that in Iamrpk's topic.

What does archiving the Miscellaneous Forum have to do with anything? Of course it would be less work for moderators because no one can post there... What are you trying to get at DaGamez?

Thus, we should remove miscellaneous and that would removing trolling right? Right? RIGHT?

If not, what are your reasons? If your reason is "it would spread to other forums", wouldn't cleaning up spam in those other forums still be a mod's duties, thus being OK, and because the spam is not related to the forum's description, the mods would have better reasons why it doesn't belong there on the scratch forums? And thus not having spam or "Cool Story Bro"s would promote a more healthy community, and promote the direction less on socializing and more on collaborating and discussing scratch and it's projects?? Yes? Yes?

It would be for the good of us though  wink . It's arguably the best decision to do. By having no miscellaneous, people wouldn't see "Ooh, there's a place where I'm supposed to chit chat! Yay!", and rather they would see a somewhat flexible "Show and Tell" forum. Plus, by having the community in Show and Tell forum, people might get more feedback in the projects as that's where the community is drawn. After all, many people say that right now, Show and Tell doesn't help advertise projects very well.

So does that mean that the Scratch Team should suggestively promote chatting by having a forum for it? No. However having it like it used to be in Show and Tell might be better. I'd arguably have to say that promoting scratchers to create projects such as "Do you like rabbits" instead of threads is a better goal then letting the souls of the Miscellaneous'ers die.

Bad idea. Sorry, but then what's the point? No one would go on it. That's like getting rid of it. I mean, look at the poor TBGs....

Sorry, but could you please describe "it"?

I can't really tell if you're replying to the first post or one of my posts, and by "it" do you mean a specific forums, or the Scratch Forums, or what?

"Look at the poor TBGs"

???

You act like people are supposed to be TBGing. Saying something like "Look at poor Scratch Resources with nobody uploading anything" is one thing, but the TBG? Nuh uh.

Re: Move Miscellaneous

To be honest Lucario, I didn't read your long posts. I am at a computer with a small screen and it's on a big desk so I am far away from it, and I can't read too well. My computer is having technical difficulties at the moment.

If you were however talking about deleting the Miscellaneous instead of moving it, then I agree.

But they're not TBGs.. only TBGs are allowed in that forum.

Just delete the Miscellaneous, it's so much easier.
