Gravity?

Im sure lots of people would agree that gravity would be useful for making more complex games.

Re: Gravity?

You'd have to be more specific. Gravity is a pretty far reaching feature that would take a lot of work to implement. For example, how would the feature know when the object shouldn't fall?

Why not just make gravity yourself? It's really not that hard.  tongue

Re: Gravity?

By gravity i mean if you were to make a scrolling or platforming game. And yes, i have made it myself, its just flawed and Im sure other people would be able to make a better version, which could then be in the form of a block so that anyone could use it.

Re: Gravity?

I don't really agree. It just seems too convenient. That would kind of be like the "if on edge, bounce" block. Just too convenient.

Re: Gravity?

Exactly. What I fear the most for Scratch is it turning into a platform of preprepared games and algorithms that require nothing more than a little customization.

Re: Gravity?

Scratch is for making  your own games with commands, not telling the administrators to make a game for you.
A "Gravity" block would just make people lazy and stop them from learning how to script, and you need to explain it a bit more. Would it just make sprites move down? What would it detect as the floor? Would it bounce? How strong would it be?
Sorry but I just do not think its a good idea, its like having a "Make a pong game" block.
