Just wondering, can you use it to animate stuff better than a normal editor (normal as in scratch paint with transparency and layers)?

You can make better pictures, but scratch animations need to be made with scratch blocks.

Paint.net can't animate
It doesn't support animated gifs
And Fireworks doesn't come cheap, I suggest sticking to Gimp

Well then the answer is no
It does it about the same, but it will be way more difficult then using one you already know

For animating I use just plain MS paint, or Paint.NET, and if I want it as a Gif or the like I then use Atenchus Animator, which costs money, but is very reliable.

Hold on, neither of the first 2 programs support animating
Unless you mean you make it in Paint, transparency with paint.net and then use AA for the actual frames?
I do something similar, except my AA is Gimp

When there's a will, there's a way.
But I don't suggest my way
Forget I posted this, actually

Yes, I make the seperate frames in the paint editors then put them into a program to generate the animation. I actualy have 3 different animation programs on my computer: Gimp, Animation shop 3 and Atenchus Animator.

I'll have to look into those. They sound useful
Got any other information on them for me?
Money's no object

When I said scratch paint with transparency and layers, I meant that as in a typical paint editor would be like scratch paint with transparency and layers.
So, is it any good for animating

Creating the frames, probably, animating them, don't think so.

Definitely not, then. Use Gimp.

Thats the animator, Animation Studio 3 is quite old, but its really good for disasembling animations (Including video files to their seperate frames) I use it if the frames of a gif have been merged, then import the frames that way.

Thanks.
I'll just search for the other one.
