I tried adding member ships aswell, so that i could have a fleet of 4 manowars. But it didn't work.
Do i need to put it somewhere else to get that? I changed the code from the one where is said that there were no other members of the fleet, to all manowars, i gave them all names and everything...

...any idea where i can find the code for setting up who follows you around when you hire them? i think that the source of my problem.
As i look through this code, it seems like this game was made for modding...

u need to add officers for that.so that they can be officers of the ships
i give u a better idea gotoPirates of the \PROGRAM\Ships\ships.init
remove refShip.CanEncounter = false;
from all ships other then fort
u will get a good game with Manowars etc then board manowars to get em to your fleet
though u will need to get officers for that
what if i send u some modified files and a save game
??

That'd be cool... just let me mention that its best to rack up the starting amount of money so that you have the cash to repair the ship at the begining.
So you can't add officers when editing the code, only in-game?

well u can add officers but thats a huge function with too much initialisation . btw u can and the best money to start with is 1000000 u can get ship repaired, culvarines installed , Crew Loaded ( and morale raised to heroic) + buy newer swords and spyglasses ASAP .
there is a hidden mission in game . the satanist mission complete it for a Gr8 sword || Go to douswen and talk the ladies |(make sure ur reputation is above normal)|
U can get a good enough sword by talking the townsfolk in dowsween tavern it will get u Nicholas Sharps sword if u save his daughter

No, right now we're just discussing modding the original, we've not actualy started it properly. Just mini-mods. Like making the starter ship the best ship in the game (The French made Manowar) and giving your self a million gold pieces.

Programing? You mean the source code in the files? Ims till learning how to program at the moment. And making small adjustments, like giving your self extra levels o start with (E.g. a higher level so the player isn't a rubbish fighter.) and extra points to upgrade abilitys. This is my first proper modding work, iv tried modding EAW/FOC (A star wars game) and its quite fun but its harder than this.

Im ready when you are, but i just want to ask, would it be safer if i made a copy of the game to mod? so that i have a backup on the disk and on my computer, i have a modding folder which i set up a while ago for all the mods i make. Iv got plenty of space on my hard drive so space doesn't matter.

Ok, copied it (Took about 5 minutes O_o) and it runs fine, only one thing which didn't copy was all the saved game, but that doesn't matter.

XD i must say the bst ship in the game is the Manowar with 32 pound culvarines u aint get them normally for them u need to reset the games ship.init file i leave on u how to do that . if u arnt able to get it i can always tell ya

btw i modded a french manowar to Warship Victory |- MY FRIGATE -| now it has got 120 Cannons and a crew of record 3000
all set to herioc and that can be boarded {though i guess noone will try to board it
}
