Scratch Block for Saving Progress

Scratch should include blocks called "save progress to user" and "load progress from user". This way, you can make long games and people would not have to start over a game. You could use it to make checkpoints easier. They should also have blocks called
"save progress to computer" and "load progress from computer", so people who don't have accounts can save too.

Online, this would require things like cookies, but it's still practically impossible for online.
Downloaded, why not just save the project?

Re: Scratch Block for Saving Progress

The Scratch Team has been thinking of having Scratch authoring online, so you can save data on a web page or something and import data too.  big_smile  So this may happen when 1.5 comes out.  big_smile

Re: Scratch Block for Saving Progress

Hmmm...I do't know. I have my own way of making games where you can save. I make a system called "Checkpoint Codes". There will probably be a certain place where you will get a checkpoint, and it will give you the code to get back there. Then when you go to it next time, you can type in the code in the Ask Block, and there you go.

Yep, passwords are a way of doing this. And another way is importing/exporting lists with the progress data.

You don't need that many variables. Use one list.

Re: Scratch Block for Saving Progress

use a checkpoint list checkpoint 1 would be 1111(or another) when you pass the checkpoint it will show a picture of that checkpoint's code or number.
