So? Often new users do some things older users would say silly... anyway, an etiquette guide should have everything, obvious or not.

For new scratch people you will get the hang of the blocks and this is sorta off topic

If it's off-topic, why did you post it in here?  hmm

Rule 12...  sad  I see some swears replacing a with @, and s with $. There are little children on this website, so please do not swear. If you do see swears, don't hesitate to flag.  big_smile

Around the upper-right corner of the 'forum' area, there's a button that says "Post new topic". I can't really describe the location, so here's a picture:

http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/8734/buttonvu.png

There's also another button at the bottom-right corner.

Oh - you were very polite. You showed that you knew what you were doing and you asked nicely. Some people just post saying "How do you post a topic?" without saying anything else. Nice etiquette.  smile

Yeah, that's really annoying... those people know that the word is censored and that it's silly to get around the filter, yet they do it...

Always report those swears.  wink

I've never seen swear words, but I have seen other bad words with @ in them.

Re: ITopic: Proper Forum Etiquette - what and what not to do in the forums

People do number four to me all the time! How do I stop them from writing random things when I want them to stay on the topic! It is a bit on the topic, but its only about if I spelled someting wrong or if its in the wrong forum or whatever. How do I stop it?????

It's practically impossible to stop...  sad  You have to be lenient most of the time.

If it's getting serious, report the topic post and ask a moderator to come in and fix the problem. Explain the situation well in the report.

Pronunciation: \ˈlē-nē-ənt, -nyənt\
Function: adjective
Etymology: Latin lenient-, leniens, present participle of lenire to soften, soothe, from lenis soft, mild; probably akin to Lithuanian lėnas tranquil — more at let
Date: 1652
1 : exerting a soothing or easing influence : relieving pain or stress
2 : of mild and tolerant disposition; especially : indulgent
— le·nient·ly adverb

From Mariam-Webster Dictionary

Re: ITopic: Proper Forum Etiquette - what and what not to do in the forums

so when you click report, will it ask you for a reason or something? i'm not trying it just in case it doesnt.

A tip to add:

don't post new replies to update an old post, click edit or delete your old one (better to edit, but use your common sense).

i know it's obvious to most people but as someone said earlier a guide should have the obvious stuff in it too. else, what useless guide is it?  tongue  jk

Yes, the report button asks you for a reason. That way, if a person reports it, a mod can see what made the person flag it (and make sure that it's not just an "I don't like this user, so I'll flag all their posts" type of flag)

There's a section on the Report button - you can read that.  smile  As Wolfie said - yes, you have to explain what the problem is in the report.

And I added your tip to the Tips section.  wink

Try not to post this sort of thing. It is off-topic, may offend the person it is directed at, and may even start a flame war(see my guide on flame wars... it should explain everything)! And don't call me off topic cause this is related to the subject of forum etiqutte  big_smile
