Change the (letter (0) of [world]) block to (character (0) of [world])

This is a very small suggestion, but it has (I think) good reasoning.

The (letter (0) of [world]) block is a sort of lie because text isn't just letters.

You can have "tehkajtkeaj", which consists of letters, or "92jkd!@", which has more. Characters would be the proper word, so should it be changed?

I know this is small, but feel free to state your opinion.  smile

Yeah, I thought of this too...

It should be real easy to implement.

I like the idea. Simple, but you're correct. It would make the block longer *gasp* but oh well lolz.

Good idea, it might be confusing to new people.

Although I think the scratch team should focus on the other suggestions first.

At least 60 seconds have to pass between posts. Please wait a little while and try posting again.

You can probably do this to your own version of Scratch by playing around with the language files.  All the text on the blocks is configurable so that it can be translated into other languages easily.

If it's that easy, then it should be possible for the next version of Scratch!  big_smile

True,  but the next version is 2.0, not 1.5.
