So many great novels to choose from...

Sci-Fi, probably "A Fire Upon The Deep" by Vernor Vinge.

Serious Fantasy, "The War Hound and The Worlds Pain" by Michael Moorcock.

Comic Fantasy "Night Watch" by Terry Pratchett.

Horror:  "The Travelling Vampire Show" by Richard Laymon

Thriller: "Airframe" by Michael Crichton

Crime: Any of the earlier stuff by Kathy Reichs or Patricia Cornwell

Historical: Any of the earlier "Sharpe" books by Bernard Cornwell

Adventure: "The Killing Floor" by Lee Child

Mayhem, you didn't include Zarathustra in there. T_T

http://i52.tinypic.com/5es7t0.png I know what you're thinking! "Neptune! Get rid of those filthy advertisements and give us back the Zarathustra siggy, you horrible person!" Well, don't worry about it, the Zara siggy will be back soon, new and improved! ^^ Meanwhile, just do what the sig tells you to. >.>

My favorite is "The Last Book In The Universe". The theme is what made me read it, it's Post-apocalyptic.  yikes

Maniac Magee:
Maniac Magee was an orphan since he was 3. Actually, his real name wasn't Maniac until he got to Two Mills (fictional place in Pennsylvania). It was Jeffrey Magee. He goes to Two Mills and turns things all around. Since he came, black kids and white play together and are friends together.
The Westing Game:

Spoiler:
It turns he wasn't dead after all!
Tuck Everlasting:
The Tuck family drinks from a magic pond and they live forever, looking the same and never growing old. Winnie, a adventurest girl, falls in love with one of the tucks and they give her a bottle of the water. The tagline of the story is: If had the choice to live forever, would you?

The Westing Game was great too. I've read it about three times, once for school.
