Re: I told my teacher about Scratch!

And has your teacher followed up on this?  What will he or she do with the information?
Did you give him or her the scratch.mit.edu URL so that he or she could find out more?

you shouldnt worry about most of us, but you do want to be safe about what you broadcast.

Re: I told my teacher about Scratch!

i think a teacher would probably use a more open programming list.

Re: I told my teacher about Scratch!

My dad's a multi media teacher, he works with animation, T.V. shows and such, he would use this for school, but he would have to put it on a DVD but he can't, well, at least hius students couldn't because it isn't flash, you can put it on a disk, but he has t project it for the class to see, so he can't.

Jman, I don't understand your father's difficulty with using scratch in class.  Could you get him to explain it to us?

Re: I told my teacher about Scratch!

well, if the wrong person saw that, they might do a little research on you.
it might not seem like it, but you have a surprising amount of data about you online
(everyone, not just hiccup) but in different places.
for instance, if you know about my DF, my AQ, my email, and my scratch, you might just be able to figure out where i live and how old i am.
that could potentially be bad.

Re: I told my teacher about Scratch!

The scratch web site team do ask people not to put their e-mail addresses and locations on the scratch web site. They also ask people not to put links to commercial web sites on.

The scratch web site tries to maintain privacy for those who want it, and tries to avoid being a place where spammers can harvest e-mail addresses.

As a Forum Moderator, I have been allowing people to post their personal web sites, where they can put whatever information they want about themselves.

Different people (and their parents) have different beliefs about how much information is appropriate for people to post about themselves on the web.  For example, you can find out a lot about me by googling me on the web, and this doesn't bother me.  Other people want a lot more privacy.
