Actually those are not the reasons at all.

As andresmh stated in his post in the 'Text-Based Games' forum section, TBGs will be removed due to the following two reasons:
1) they have been a source of fights and inappropriate behavior
2) they have been difficult to moderate, taking up a fair amount of time for the moderators and administrators to help out on the other Scratch forums.

However, there was a consensus that the TBGs can stimulate creativity. If there are enough volunteers with good character agreeing to moderate the forums, TBGs will simply have it's own website section. So no need to fret yet about the loss of the TBG forums. 

i would like to moderate. but i dont know how! is there an age limit?

I know arguing with a real mod is probably a bad idea, but I don't see why the reasons that I have listed are not reasons because Andres didn't mention them.

The main goal of the Lifelong Kindergarten group is to stimulate creativity among young people. I believe that TBG does indeed fit for that purpose. Therefore, they don't mind it being non-related to Scratch. The real reasons are what Andres listed.

BWOG, can't you stick to the sticky? And they won't change their minds. Andrés has stated that.

If you think it's bad to remove a popular part of the forums, remember that they are very likely going to make a website for the Text-Based Games.

You were very rude the way you insulted the Scratch Team like that. Remember, they are not just regular users. Show them some respect!

Personally, many more people seem to want it to go instead of staying. And it is going, no matter what.

Because, it's NOT an important part.

So...? If we deleted everything that wasn't important, Scratch ITSELF wouldn't even exist, because it's just for fun. The TBG were just for fun. So if you delete them, why not just delete Scratch altogether?

Good point.

I think FMT is trying to point out that TBGs are not important to Scratch (the term 'important' here meaning 'not integral', as in Scratch can exist without TBGs).

Anyway, to reiterate it again, the reason for deletion of TBGs is not because the Scratch Team thought of it as unimportant, but rather because they were a source of conflict among Scratchers and hard to moderate.

Cheddargirl, could you lock the topic for me? It's getting a little off-topic and stuff.
