The petition isn't trying to stop the 2.0 release. The people signing it just want 1.4 left up as a read-only. 2.0 will still be released anyway. You can look at a cached copy of 1.4 or just use the Wayback machine if it's that important to you. All projects and comments will be transfered over anyway, so it's really only the forums that they're getting rid of. The stuff in the forums is going to go obsolete anyway because there'll be a whole new set of glitches and suggestions related to 2.0.

Sorry, but I'm guessing the Scratch Team will not stop the development of 2.0 and just waste all the valuable time they took to make it. Look the bright side, you will still be able to use 1.4 when 2.0 comes. Just make the project with the program, and upload it to the online editor. Then you will be able to share it.
But here's a lesson here, you might not always like things. Maybe you'll like 2.0, you just don't like it because it's new. Changes are hard to get used to.

Look, ok, I have given hours of my time to scratch 1.4 and I have only seen a few things I would like changed. I will tell you, I do like the webcam on 2.0.

Even if it is "3 new features", just take the top three features. Those open the possibility to great games and projects.

What are you talking about. Look at this thread. Tons of people like it. This means that a lot of us like 2.0. There are tons of people actively using the Beta too, showing they like it. All of this information shows that a lot of us DO like it.

Just because you don't see anything you want changed doesn't mean that after they make a change you won't like it. You ave to try it for yourself before jumping to conclusions, just as cheddargirl said. And don't argue with mods by the way. It doesn't help.
