I bet there will be alot of polls/votes and chat sort of projects after scratch 2.0 is released. Its lucky scratch 2.0 wasnt available in the time of the USA elections or I can imagine and uproar of debates on actual projects as well as hundreds of voting polls on scratch We'll have to prepare for the next USA election.
We should ban such projects.....
Because Scratch is non political site. Also That can cause a conflict between scratchers.Thats exactly what happened in USA elections. Some election topics got even front paged! (top viewed, remixed, loved and new projects)
Remixed for people adding their votes
Loved from people who agree with that person on political stuff
Viewed for people who find it interesting.
It was a disaster, heated arguments in comments etc.
That was without cloud variables...
Here is an example of one such project that got front paged. (most viewed I think)
Check its comments
What's wrong if young people are interested in politics? Politics is important for all of us, so why shouldn't we make Scratch projects dealing with politics, elections, political parties and so on?

People could get in arguments about politics.

People could get in arguments about anything. As long as the ultimate goals of a Scratch project are not to be false-information propaganda, purposefully harmful or explicit, or strike down any Scratcher's personal belif, then we all should be OK with the project.
In Scratch 2.0, I hope that the overall desire to enhance one's programming abilities and to learn things from others inside a helpful community will override any hatred toward others. As long as the project isn't hateful toward another specific person or group, then we all should be fine with the project existing
Let's make Scratch 2.0 a fresh start, with no hatred and plenty of creativity!

So we should add a filter of politics .
To filter out politics.
Can you show me how to make a chat-room script with cloud variables in script workshop ?

Maybe instead of removing such projects entirely, we could mark them as Not for Everyone (which basically means that the project can't be frontpaged but people can still view it)

That a perfect suggestion , I think.
are chat rooms really not going to be allowed?

well, considering they're already not allowed, they shouldn't be allowed in 2.0...

Mesh chats are allowed (I think, never been called out for them.) I don't know if cloud variables will be like mesh or like the comments system (in terms of moderation.)

So, what sort of new blocks will it have?

This is all the information you'll need going into Scratch 2.0.

Here's some blocks for 2.0!
if () or () end wait until () or () broadcast [v] or [v] previous costume <mouse up?> repeat until () or ()what do you think about that?

All of those blocks can currently be accomplished. Except for the broadcast one, how would that work?

Chatrooms are going to be allowed, in fact, I have one of my own on the site (Yeah, I'm an alpha tester).

I kinda doubt that most of those'll be implemented...

Why not just use the "or" operator...? And for <mouse up> just do <not<mouse down>>, and for previous costume do switch to costume ((costume #)-1)

Yes, you can do all of those in 1.4.
If <<>or<> end wait until <<boolean1> or <boolean2>> broadcast [message1 v] broadcast [message2 v] switch costume to ((costume#)-(1)) <not<mouse down?>>

That's because you can already do them.

I've been on several (like 777w's and laternpfahl's) but I'm not sure if they'll be allowed when 2.0 becomes public. Because right now (and especially in alpha, with just us curators and mods) there aren't too many people and most of them the Scratch Team trusts, they may allow it.
Or have the ST said "chatrooms are going to be allowed in when 2.0 comes out"?
