What is the closest programming language to scratch?

I was wondering what it was.

Re: What is the closest programming language to scratch?

Well, Scratch is really one of a kind. There aren't very many languages at all close to it.

I do remember Alice and StarLogo TNG were similar to a hypothetical 3d version of Scratch.

Well that's just a mod of Scratch, so yeah, it'd be pretty close.  tongue

I'm trying to think of a language similar to Scratch that's not covered in that article linked by Cheddar. Looks like it covered just about everything though.

Re: What is the closest programming language to scratch?

Though that article also mentions languages that aren't so similar to Scratch, such as Pascal, Python and a Java library.  tongue

The "closest" languages to Scratch would be those that also use blocks as a means of scripting: Stencyl, Snap (ex-BYOB), App Inventor, Alice...

I like Python. It's kind of like a text based Scratch. Its pretty different though.

In terms of ease, Visual Basic 6 is.

Re: What is the closest programming language to scratch?

There is a program Very similar to scratch (but more blocks) i am alpha testing. But it is in alpha so I can't tell any more. (and it is not Scratch 2.0)

A fully release closest programming language to scratch is Stencyl, it is like scratch but you can make i phone games and stuff!

Make it in Scratch! because it's cooler when it's made in scratch
