Hi I'm Rose. I'm very new in scratch programming and there are many things I still don't understand...like for instance, after making the program in scratch, how do you make the new program run in your machine? Do you have to convert it? How do you make it executable? How do you make it windows,linux or mac compatible?  Are there any limitations in scratch programming? If yes, what are those? I hope someone can help me. Thanks.

First hello and welcome Rose!

Now to answer your questions:
1). You can run it in Scratch (by pressing the green circle).
2). No, no conversion is needed.
3). You add hat blocks at the top of each script. An example would be:

when gf clicked
and these can be found under control.
4). Scratch is already Windows and Mac compatible. As for Linux, there are a few settings that you'll have to have set to a specific setting.
5). Right now, TD's, which require cloning, are limited to the number of sprites you have, but in Scratch 2.0, there'll be cloning so scratch won't have that limitation. Another is that scratch graphics can look pixelated when zoomed in, but that'll be changed in Scratch 2.0.
