Haha, I have a hard time with patience myself sometimes. Not much you can do though.

I'd say the beginning of 2013. No official date though.

to find the correct date, take the amount of time predicted by the scratch team (2 months), multiply by two, and change to the next highest unit

therefore it will be out in 4 years

I'm not exactly sure I understand.  Will they be able to edit the values on the server, or will their changes only take effect on their computer?  Implementations of this may create loopholes that destroy the integrity of cloud data; after all, you can just set a "you win" variable to true, or cheat your score before the project uploads it, etc.

I think this means to say only locally edit the "cloud" data.

Clouded means "made into a cloud". Ex. Old 1.4 list that has a lot of data, to new cloud list.

Of course it's always possible for them to postpone it for four years, if that's what you want.

If the TBGs are that important, then host a forum for them yourself.  Not all Scratchers go on the TBGs, and for a reason--they no longer represent the purpose of Scratch.  The purpose of Scratch is not just to be a forum chat site.  It's supposed to teach programming.

Re: Scratch 2.0: 4 new features

I like everything I read except that users can edit cloud data inside the project, even if it's only temporary. We need the option to stop them doing this, because otherwise it ruins online games, high scores, etc. it also means that you can make it look like a certain user has posted something inappropriate.

I believe that the changes can't modify the actual cloud variables; the changes only affect what the editing user sees.

Re: Scratch 2.0: 4 new features

Why is Scratch so obsessed with having EVERYTHING be understood by newer users? I didn't know what a variable or broadcast was when I joined, but they give a sort of incentive to learn. To not add a "run all at once" block to simplify things just feels silly.

Re: Scratch 2.0: 4 new features

About cloud variables: what if a project is run locally (on a computer connected to the internet, of course) or from a different server than the Scratch website? Will cloud variables work also in that case?

Yeah, I think that's what they mean by "temporary." Changes will probably never be uploaded to the website.
