So, after reading this guide, I tried the tips. I advertised in S@T, gave informative descriptions, used proper grammar, added a link, asked for feedback, advertiesd in my sig, (I'm pretty sure I) have lots of friends (friended me, not friended them), posted helpful comments, added tags (my projects have an average of about 6 or 7), reccomended my projects, my projects are in galleries (average of ~1.5 per project), and have a project in SDS (but that's so old no-one looks at it). I haven't spammed, etc. But my projects still have ~10 comments (excluding 50 Bits). Am I doing something wrong?

no.
It's not guaranteed that your going to get 100 views and 500 comments on your projects.
And Scratch isn't about views and comments. It's about programming. So if that's all you want, I don't think Scratch is a very good place for that.

How many times did I say this.
I KNOW.

and if you do know then why are you asking?

{Not in this thread}
This is why english is a bad language.
"I KNOW"--->Scratch<>popularity
~"I KNOW"--->Other people get popularity for things that take the same amount of effort as my projects.
There. I used math.

First of all, that's not math.
2nd of all, WE CAN'T CONTROL YOUR POPULARITY KAY?
~ means logical not.
<> is a common programming symbol used to represent "Not equals"
And yes you can. And I wasn't even telling you to look at my projects and you start shouting.

Well, you want views so badly, and we can't buy viewers for you or really control that.
if you don't like not being super popular, then just restart or something geez
You act like you can't go on the main site.
And if I restart, I'll be even less popular, not that I wanted it that much.

I think you are being a little harsh, funelephant.
Anyway, how long has it been up?

Which one? I'm refering to my projects in general, not any specific one.

Oh...
Well, you are relatively new.
I joined in 2011 and still aren't that famous...

you're not doing anything wrong
your projects are good but they dont appeal to children who dont understand math as well as you

What about this, this, and this? No math needed to play them.

You can advertise, be friendly, post on the forums, but the fact of the matter is, those things do not count as views on your project, so you can't expect to get views as soon as you do them. Generally, if you relentlessly try to be well known, it won't happen. However, if you stick to making cool projects and be friendly, without focusing on getting front paged, your views will soon start to creep up.

well im saying math-based projects included. the crumble one uses math to generate levels, does it not?
what im trying to say is the community tends to like simple platformer games and animations more than complex games like the ones you make. i happen to enjoy your projects, but unfortunately you're so advanced that people overlook you. thats the problem with the front page these days

I don't really focus on getting front paged, but we all like it, don't we?

Oh, so now you're blaming it on the front page?
I don't blame you. The front page is messed up these days.

Yep, that's how a lot of my projects go. You just need to get noticed. Patience, your time will come, and so will mine. Pay attention to what gets front paged, that may give you a clue as to what people will view. Also, be helpful, nice, and make some friends!
You really want me to say?
Front page is:
Featured and curated, which can be good.
SDS, but the 8bit theme has been here a long time already.
Loving:
Simple platformers
Boring animations (although that "I'm mining iron with iron"/"how ironic!" on was funny)
Some CC's
Remixing:
CC's
A few complex platformer engines
Viewing:
Games that look complicated but are really not
Some more CC's
A few animations
Front page fails.

Anyway, the first Crumble does have a lot of views.
Good point

Uh... They must be on the front page for a reason...
just because you don't like it, doesn't mean no one else does.

You quoted it wrong. It needs two quotes around the post, like this:

Otherwise you're implying that I said it in this thread.
"Although Scratch is not mainly programming, it is not mainly coloring contest's either. Its [sort-of] a programming language. CC's don't need a programming language."

Can you please not fuss over the front page and fame? You should be thankful you get views! Some scratchers get none! And if you don't like projects on the front page, then don't look at them.

I'm not. And I didn't say I don't like all the FP, as sometimes it actually has good projects.

I was trying to say (and ask why) that the guides for getting "popular" didn't work, but this quickly turned into a big argument on how scratch isn't all about populrity.

1. Guides to get popular almost never work (...) because most Scratchers are only on the main site
2. Only Featured and sometimes Curated have good projects.
3. The rest are CCs and the like.
4. Don't flame me.

1. Makes sense.
2. I know.
3. That's what makes the FP mainly bad.
4. I won't, your post is one of the most constructive in this thread.
If you see this, I won't post on this thread for a while now. I'm waiting until all the arguements and "fussing" stops.
