inkball was made with scratch?

Ok, I don't know if this works in Windows 7, I know it works in Vista.

Go to games, open inkball. See the score thing at the top? How similar is that to the large variable monitor on Scratch?

Is this merely a coincidence, or could this mean that Microsoft used a custom version of Scratch to make this game? The pen blocks mean that Scratch would be a great tool to make a game like this.

In case you don't have access to this game, here's a screenshot from online. Look top right.

Re: inkball was made with scratch?

(Why all the topics all the sudden?)

It's just a coincidence, the round-rectangle score/point view is common, it looks quite nice.

Re: inkball was made with scratch?

Then explain how they could look so similar?

Even the colour is almost exactly the same.

Re: inkball was made with scratch?

If Microsoft's software engineers use something intended to teach children programming to create stuff in their insanely complex OS, it's time to switch to [strikethrough]Mac[/strikethrough] (Why doesn't the forum have a strikethrough BBCode?) Linux.

Edit: It may be that the large variable display in Scratch and the score display in Inkball are built into Smalltalk-80, so they would be the same/similar.

Re: inkball was made with scratch?

I don't think it was made in scratch

It has REALLY good bouncing and the pen marks erase when you hit them, plus the old pen mark disappears if you have about 50 or more

^It seems more likely that MS created it using Smalltalk.

Wikipedia states otherwise:

The first version of Scratch was developed in 2006 by the Lifelong Kindergarten group, led by Mitchel Resnick, at the MIT Media Lab[3]. Scratch allows for constructing and testing through mostly tactile process because the creators' first priority was to make it as easily learned by children as possible.

There's probably tons of games with orange score displays with white text

Re: inkball was made with scratch?

The shade and shape are different, and Vista came out before Scratch.

Wait, you were serious about liking Vista?

I only use it because my parents won't change. Second I can afford/get my hands on a laptop it's getting 7 or XP

Just because I'm a huge Apple fan (and not a fan boy) doesn't mean I agree with everything they say or do; I'm strongly against the current patent system and hope people don't automatically think I'm all for Apple just because they're Apple.  sad
