Hey, for grass do you think instead we should have some sort of crystal like material?
This means if we want the 'grass' to grow like grass the soil has to be supersaturated with the crystal but very weakly so it doesn't grow too big! Also they grow best in porous materials so having quite hard soil would be best. Crystals also grow best in warm conditions so actually it doesn't really matter about the soil because the place is already pretty cold!

Perhaps the crystals could be made of glucose (or some sugar equivalent) as a form of energy storage?
This sounds neat.
EDIT: And light focusing for more efficient photosynthesis! There's not much light that far out, unless the sun is very bright.

So far there aren't any plants yet (crystal grass isn't really a living thing), so I have an idea for a common, tree-like one:
It can grow from 10-20 feet tall, with smooth, dark brow bark that blends in with the soil.
The leaves are broad and absorb the humidity from the air instead of taking water with it's roots.
The leaves are light green and as thin as paper, and come out from green stems from the side of the tree; the only part covered in bark is a free-standing pole at the center of the plant, basically the middle of the plant.
It has bright fruits that are shaped like spheres, 3 inches in diameter that change color depending on the seasons: summer-green/blue, fall-red, spring-pink, and it does not bear fruit in the winter. It's seeds are found in the fruit and they look similar to that of an apple seed.

I like the humidity sucking idea. It can help it survive, since there is a thicker atmosphere. I suggest making it bigger, to protect itself from the air pressure.

There are tiny creatures that grow to two-feet high and ride on the back of giants. Their diet consists of mostly dirt, but rocks during festivities as well.

They don't need to be big because of air pressure. As long as the pressure is equal, it's fine. That's how it works on earth.
