this is essentially the suggestion to go with this thread
I am suggesting that us (the scratch community) make the offline version of scratch 2.0 in C++ because it will run much faster than the squeak or flash version would on the Raspberry Pi. If the community write this, it won't be quite so much work for scratch's one programmer...

Yeah, but the Scratch Team are college students. We're mostly around the teens age.
