Community-written offline version

this is essentially the suggestion to go with this thread

I am suggesting that us (the scratch community) make the offline version of scratch 2.0 in C++ because it will run much faster than the squeak or flash version would on the Raspberry Pi. If the community write this, it won't be quite so much work for scratch's one programmer...

if you think about how long it's taken so far for the Scratch Team to write Scratch 2.0 Flash, i can't imagine how long it would take them to write this whist trying to fix bugs in Scratch 2.0 and manage the new website.

And it would be fun  tongue

EDIT: 1200th post!  smile

Yeah, but the Scratch Team are college students. We're mostly around the teens age.

Re: Community-written offline version

i thought of something similar just today, i feel that the java player could use some improvement and a scratcher-made version would be great
