Re: What Sound Formats can I Import Into Scratch?

When I record sound, an error message pops up. I use a file for Scratch since it didn't install on my computer... I wanted to record a song but I couldn't so instead, I downloaded a mp3 file and tried to import it. It didn't work... How can I import the song? Do I need to get a different type of file?

.aif works fine for me.

If you are having trouble with simple counting, use the following mnemonic device: 1 comes before 2 comes before 5,280 comes before 523,860,759 comes after the square root of -153 comes before π. This will make your previous counting problems seem like no big deal.

*** Update - Scratch can also import some types of MP3 files

The uncompressed WAV files don't work for me...

And neither do the .mp3 files. Just Windows sound effects.

MP3's work for macs- just drag the file into the sounds section and it'll convert it.

Me too, I just drag mp3's into the sound section. What does it do for you?

You can use an audio editor such as Audacity (which is free) to
convert many sound file formats to uncompressed WAV.

Here is where you can find Audacity:

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/

*** Update - Scratch can also import some types of MP3 files

Thank you!!! this solved my issue...  wink
